Popular Post Tropez Posted May 3 Popular Post Posted May 3 Apple is like Target, and Spotify is like Wal-Mart. Apple offers a better service. Spotify pays artists less, and doesn't even offer higher quality music that nearly every other competitor does. Now they want to charge users for viewing lyrics. 15
makeawish Posted May 3 Posted May 3 this feels like fairly solid alien vs predator territory. that said, never spotify
Cherish Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Talk to me when you get lossless, Spotify. Otherwise, leave me alone. Every streaming service except Napster (irrelevant), Pandora (irrelevant), SoundCloud+ (EXTREMELY IRRELEVANT) and you has lossless. It's a standard business practice. Enough of this ogg 320kpbs. What is this, 2005? Get with the times. 7
Burn Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Spotify getting too brave when they can't even make a profit from their business
Virgos Groove Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Why is a billion-dollar company (that barely pays artists, mind you) acting like the underdog? 3 4 2

Kayseri Mantisi Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Idk what to say if you're still choosing Apple after reading this timeline, Spotify is obviously right: https://timetoplayfair.com/timeline/ And this is not the first time Apple is acting like this, they have been fined several times for similar things. Such an annoying company... 10 1

Blue Rose Posted May 3 Posted May 3 not Spotify preaching ethical business practices. you are the worst of the worst, puta 14
Cherish Posted May 3 Posted May 3 This whole article is literally them crying because Apple doesn't let them do stuff on the Watch and on Apple's products besides iPhone & Mac. Why are you shocked! Apple is the #1 brand of phones in the world - they don't have to include you if they don't want to. I do get it for the most part, especially for the part about audiobooks but at the end of the day, Spotify won't win me over. 1

Kamil24 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I use Spotify because it shows the number of streams and other statistics for artists and their songs. Unless Apple does that, I cannot switch.
getBusy Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) I mean, everything in that post is true. Apple abuses the **** out of all developers, big or small. That doesn't mean Spotify is a saint, obviously. Edited May 3 by getBusy 1
Raspy Posted May 3 Posted May 3 guys this not just about which streaming service is better yall dumb as **** 2 2 1
Cruel Summer Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I think it's fair to assert that Apple engages in some anticompetitive practices, and we shouldn't ignore that solely because of the messenger here - but I also think it's quite bold of Spotify to talk about product quality when their product is so incredibly far away from Apple's own streaming service in terms of quality both in terms of user interaction and in terms of literal audio quality. I have never been able to make Spotify stick - I always go back, and I don't think the problems I have with Spotify are because of Apple's anticompetitive practices. Both these companies could stand to be or do better in one way or another. One of the major difficulties I always have with this conversation is that I absolutely believe in a level playing field and increased consumer choice, but in practice would probably never deviate from the Apple ecosystem anyway, so my support for diversity of choice feels hollow. But then I consider that part of why their environment feels better is probably due to their practices giving them more room to develop things that works seamlessly with their products, and other companies just haven't had that opportunity yet. Who's to say Spotify might not be better if they had the unrestricted ability to roll out apps and experiment with iOS/iPadOS/watchOS integration? It's all a bit of a mess. 2

MatiRod Posted May 3 Posted May 3 4 minutes ago, Aethereal said: I wish Apple could make all numbers public. Honestly having Spotify numbers public is a source of huge stress for artists, it's like you have this number that's there in everyone's faces that tells everybody what you're worth (I know numbers don't represent that, but that's what it feels like psychologically). Once you start putting music out there the Spotify monthly listeners stat becomes the most important number in your life. I've spoken to many artists about this, everyone finds it stressful and embarrassing and puts huge pressure on you because the success or lack of is so public. 2
