Popular Post Burn Posted May 3 Popular Post Posted May 3 I find that the problem with Dua's music is that she doesn't have anything meaningful to write about. She makes music just for the sake of making music. There's nothing interesting enough in her life for her to put into her music. For example Taylor and Adele's thing is writing about their relationships, Gaga's music is (or was) based on her trauma, Beyoncé tackles different things with each album e.g. recently highlighting black artists in country music. Even Ariana had the homewrecker thing to base her album off. Dua's music just doesn't resonate with people like that which is why I believe she hasn't been able to solidify a strong fanbase. 20 1
spiritboy Posted May 3 Posted May 3 She should fire his dad, hire her old management team and work with Max Martin. 1
mercurialworld Posted May 3 Posted May 3 She needs to work with producers who actually specialize in the trip-hop, psychedelic sound she was promising 1
Shimenawa Posted May 3 Posted May 3 She should release her Loud later this year if she cares about her career. Otherwise she'll be left behind 3
TitanicSurvivor Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Include RO into Dua Lipa (Completed Complete edition) and call it a day 3

If I remember well, most of you dragged Houdini back in the days and you even said it was FN 2.0. Now you want the whole album to sound like that. Gays will be gays. Edited May 3 by Tyrion_LMG 1 3

Shinning Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Is OP not tired of making threads about disappointing RO is? Should you not go to sleep?

Besides Rated R, wasn't Rihanna the same as your description? 1
Aaron Posted May 3 Posted May 3 9 minutes ago, JC. said: Besides Rated R, wasn't Rihanna the same as your description? Yes, but audiences didn't care as much about authenticity and relatability in pop music as they do now.
Digitalism Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 9 minutes ago, JC. said: Besides Rated R, wasn't Rihanna the same as your description? Exactly. People don't need a narrarive to enjoy good pop music. And some may say some artist have to make up some storylines to sell because the pop hits just aren't there.
Peroxide Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I really like the album but I understand why others don't… and there's not quite a Physical/Levitating/Don't Start Now "omg that's a bonafide smash" moment, the closet she gets is Houdini… This remains a really solid 8/10 kinda record but it's not something which is filled to the brim with radio hits. I'd maybe try releasing another one or two singles with features/remixes just to see if something else can stick but otherwise I'd release the remix album later this year… get back in the studio with decorated pop producers and push out some singles next year… aiming for DL4 to drop either very late 2025 or spring 2026. Sonic evolution is necessary for growth but there's a lack of accessibility with the record as a whole. She's still Kylie's sonic successor. I think she'll be okay in the end.
Støned Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Rerelease and put Dance The Night in the deluxe version Falling Forever might be the last saving grace of the album..
holyground13 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 These Walls, Whatcha Doing?, Falling Forever and Maria would like to talk. 1
