Kitty Kat Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 https://www.euractiv.com/section/politics/news/tusk-government-promises-to-shorten-working-hours/ Quote Tusk government promises to shorten working hours The Polish government has confirmed that it will amend the Labour Code to reduce working hours – either by introducing a four-day week or a seven-hour day – before its mandate ends in 2027, Polish media reported on Friday. With both options currently on the table, it seems most likely that it will be up to companies to decide whether to make Fridays or Mondays free. "It will be determined whether a better option would be to reduce the average working week from 40 to 35 hours or to implement a four-day workweek," Family, Labour and Social Policy Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk announced last month. Longer holidays While a shorter working week or day would be a far-reaching change in itself, the unions want more. They want the paid annual leave provided for in the Labour Code to be increased by nine days to 35 days. 1

Kitty Kat Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 For reference, in June the CJEU made a ruling that Hungary's asylum law was in strong violation of European law, by making it effectively impossible to file applications at all with a system where border officials would escort all immigrants to spaces equivalent to detention centres where they stayed for indefinite amounts of time The ruling was that they must pay a lump sum of €200 million plus €1 million per day until all the relevant legislation changes to comply with the ruling (it's been almost three months by now so you can imagine it's grown quite a bit), they still have not done this (Orbán's response was to threaten with sending migrants in buses to Brussels) so eventually it will probably get taken off from their allocated share in the EU budget (which is already largely frozen too because they haven't complied with rule of law requirements either)
Virgos Groove Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Mr. Xi, the Iberian people yearn for your cheap EVs and quality public transport. Please set up industrial complexes in my home town. You will be welcomed as liberators. Hell, get BYD to buy the SEAT brand since the Germans aren't doing anything with it.
SlowGinFizzzz Posted September 17 Posted September 17 The new designated* European Commissioners have been unveiled! https://www.politico.eu/article/meet-european-commissioner-class-2024-ursula-von-der-leyen/ *) The European Parliament still has to accept them all.
