Illuminati
Bon Appetit tanked and derailed the whole era That would have just sped up the process I guess
blown away
The song is a bop, but shouldn't have been a single at all. It should've been a promo single. Witness should've been the lead Then Tsunami as the second single Bon Appetit + Chained To The Rhythm as a promo single Then Roulette as the final single
Kiss It Better
actually yes, because it would mean 1. the song would've been the solo version because the migos version wasn't even a thing until like late march/april 2. she would've performed this at the grammy, which would've ATE also she wouldn't have the short hair yet 3. no random "purposeful pop" comment 4. it's the better song however, i think the title track should've been the lead followed by Tsunami (feat. Rihanna) -> Roulette -> Bon Appetit (ft. The Weeknd) [Remix] with the solo being on the album -> Deja Vu or Pendulum and Swish Swish would've been a promo single
Cain
Erm it would've bombed even more
terrorblade
the singles choices were great it really was just the 4 year break & unfortunate looks
Timeless
Everyone saying Witness would've bombed harder if BA was the lead, but the music video literally has over 1.3 billion views (600m more than CTTR ) BA as the lead would've caused a Wrecking Ball type of buzz because the short hair and sexual innuendos would've been controversial and get people talking about Katy going crazy
Mana-Mahad
No omg It literally killed her carreer and destroyed her image. This song should have never seen the light of the day, it's awful, Chained To The Rhythm was the best choice and was the only good choice.
skankle
Tsunami should have been the lead
Harsh2256
This album is the Bionic for late 2010s gays you'll see more threads and tweets about it being underrated than actual streams
Facelessboy
You guys are harsh! I think it wasn't the music that was bad it was the image & long break. Swish Swish is pretty bad though worst song of that year & Hey Hey
liquiddiamonds
People listened to the album. If there had one song that could've been big, it'd have happened. The album is clunky. The hooks are not quite there, the lyrics are bad and the production sounded dated even for 2017 standards. Chained had great production and melody. It was the surefire single, but the pre-chorus and other elements could've been worked better. Bon Apetit takes too long to take off. Swish Swish sounded reductive because of its sample. Puke just knew how to mix her vocals, because they sound bad throughout the record. Then you had her antics and image around the era. It was truly a lost cause. Smile on the other hand had much more potential and she actually fumbled that one by not having the album rollout ready once Never Really Over took off and the whole clown shtick.
