havewemet Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 (edited) The numbers are huge, her fan base is rabid and her marketing tactics are unmatched. Here's the thing: 859k vinyl sales divided by 4 variants is 216k. 891 million streams divided by 31 songs is 29 million. The numbers are inflated dramatically. Especially when you consider it's basically a double album. You almost have to divide the numbers by 2 and then decide then again by 4 to get a true picture of how many people are really buying/listening. The people who get it get it but the people who don't will never hear this music. Maybe that guy from the Pet Shop Boys was right… Edited April 28, 2024 by havewemet 3 1 3 58

Interesting that the smallest % increase vs. Midnights was vinyls. Taylor Swift '1989' Nearly Half of Albums Sold in the U.S. Last Week (billboard.com) From this article you can infer that 1989 TV sold 98k digital and from the 1.261M physical you could subtract and get the cassettes (but I'm lazy to do that math)

Otherwise, we can all stop reading after your second sentence, given most people did not buy all 4 variants. 6

NoOneDiesFromLove Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Can't believe 1989 has finally been outdone congrats to her best album ever, 3.6M is next! OT Love how the OP is unreadable on dark mode

We must be consistent, we can't single out pop girls like Bible verses and Christians, we're better than that. 11 1

THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT - 2,610,000 Jesus 1989 TV 3.5 million. Is that it's total sales? I noticed the 28 weeks into the YE chart so I'm assuming yes? Or was there any in 2023 chart

Maybe that guy from the Pet Shop Boys was right… Then why isn't Ariana achieving this (she had like 7 vinyl variants). Or Billie (with 15 variants)? Or Beyonce (with like 5 variants)? Also, Bey's CC also had like 27 songs. And it only did like 300M on demand streams, not even half of TTPD. Should we divide that as well, then Cowboy Carter did around 11M. And with vinyl units divided per variant it did like 12k Edited April 28, 2024 by TayDuaStan 14 1 2
