Yet here you are, someone who isn't even a fan of hers, talking about... the music.

:clack:

Since when, only fans or swifties could be able to talk about music. I have no idea and never will.

What the hell is this thread?

I think what throws people off is the amount of songs she put on the album.

It's like she gave us two whole albums.

I do believe this album will grow on everyone. It just needs time.

I'm staying on topic and talking about the music? A swiftie was even throwing personal attacks at me while I stayed on topic.

I like some of her previous work. But this album has nothing to offer for me. And no, I don't think investing more in this album will change this, like this stupid article implies.

What do they say about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

...And who said that? Reading is key. I would expect you to have read considering you've been mass disliking any posts by Taylor fans. That user was saying that no one is talking about the music, which is clearly false considering how many posts and threads fans and non-fans alike have been making about this album in the last week :deadbanana4:

But she has called it a double album though?

Music that lacks melodies will never grow on me. I'd rather listen to poems.

Yes reading is key. I read and quote what you said, not the other person. I'm not involving in someone else for a mess. I know theres Nothing wrong with what I said.

You live up to your user name Patient 0.

Some arts take time, but your impatient head is too dumb too understand that concept.

Where do you think the stream comes from?

And no one talk about the music... yeah sure but then you yourself go on to write essays about the album. Haha. 🤣🤣

Not the Rick & Morty method. The album has her worst lyrics and her most dated production.  Asking people to force themselves to listen for two hours of already threaded material is a tall order on the media's part.

This is literally two albums. You don't need to listen to all 31 songs at once 😭 why don't people get that

I stand by what I said in the album thread a couple days ago: when people reflect on her career a few decades from now, this album is going to be viewed much, much better.

One billion Spotify streams alone in one week don't show widespread hate. The album's growing steadily. If it were really hated, I'd be getting 60 million streams daily by now.

Again...talking about streams when I'm talking about quality?
Her fans would farm stream an album consisting out of Taylor's wet farts, so let's not use streams as a barometer for quality. Let's not go there.

There's just nothing about this album that stands out. It's dull and lazy. And no, I won't waste 10 hours trying to "understand the art" That it sells like crazy and has 1 trillion streams doesn't say anything about its quality. Do you remember any BTS chart topping song? Guess not.

Music is very subjective anyway. There's a lot of people who just happen to like her music. Doesn't automatically mean they have taste. Twilight, Fast and the Furious, Startbucks etc are/were immense when it comes to popularity. But they're **** to mediocre at best.

Keep it up, talking about your hatred for the music with a passion.

A lot of us also talk about how we love this album with a passion also.

This extreme polarizing reactions only make the album bigger and create the conversations it needs to become a pop culture moment for years to come.

Haha keep doing your work to make Taylor Swift inescapable and then moaning about it. Thats your life circle. Sound like fun, huh?😂

This piece is absolutely correct. The way people consume music now is absolutely terrible. They think that they can listen, digest and form a fully developed opinion within the first listen. Some albums can be instant on the first listen, but some albums take time to get into. especially one with 31 tracks. The issue with the critiques on this album is that they're not in good faith. OTH couldn't wait to listened to 3 seconds of the first track so they can scream "IT'S BAD!!!" and a mixed review to hold on to. If you don't like the album, that's fine, but when you're being biased and didn't try and listen to the album for what it is, obviously people are going to call it out.

The album is just bad. And extremely boring. It's not a sin to accept it. It was hard enough to give it one full listen, imagine severals lol.

good lucky for those who were brave enough to like it. Enjoy it, babes.

I still give it a 3/5 album, but I can see this being the closest thing to the Book of Revelation for others.

Definitely.

I also think the album being perceived as boring could also because the album cover is in black and white

I think the album would be perceived as less drab and more fun if it had an album cover in color

Almost every song on this album could be on 1989, but because the cover is in B&W it would be seen as more boring. I imagine if it had 1989's original album cover, it would be received differently.

But folklore also has a B&W cover and it received critical acclaim and AOTY.

CNN lost their credibility years ago and this is just further evidence. This is just CNN defending a billionaire, which is very on-brand for CNN.

If CNN had hired someone with at least some knowledge of the music industry, and music reviews, they'd know that albums are pre-released to critics for many large publications weeks in advance, so this idea that they needed more time is wrong. Most, although perhaps not all, would have had the album for a while.

If CNN really want to contribute something positive, they could hire some music journalists and start doing their own reviews.

They can take as long as they like.

We'll see on the year end list then.

Big selling albums made by big name artists usually do have a good chance of getting on the critics year end lists.

When a music publication editor tells their music critics to send them their list of the top 40 albums by the end of the week day, those music critics have to quickly think of 40 albums they listened to and liked. It's inevitable that the best known artists and albums, will have a better chance of finding their way onto the list... see also Grammy nominations.

Give me proof that Taylor Swift's TTPD album was pre-released to music critics weeks in advance, please.

I understand that this is a norm for other artists but not for Taylor Swift. As far as I know, since 1989, she doesn't "pre-release" her albums to critics anymore. Everyone gets the music at the same time unless you listen to the leak (if available).

Who are you to demand proof? It is not my job to prove the norm is true, you can feel free to prove that she doesn't pre-release her albums if you like.
