Pet Shop Boys shade Taylor "Where are the famous songs?"

Billie Jean is like the ultimate pop classic, it's not just Taylor but pretty much all of ATRL's faves who don't have a classic of that magnitude. Also today's hits just don't compare to hits of the 80s. Even a monster hit like Flowers pales in comparison to Billie Jean.

She has a very cultish view of therapy.

She's never had any therapist check in on her. Her mother acts as her therapist.

And because her mother benefits from her financially, it's against her interests to get her daughter real, tangible help. It's quite sad. :gaycat6:

Right. Everyone around her treats her like a deity. Her fanbase has spun into a daylight-operating cult. No surprise she has the maturity bandwidth of a petulant child with a pram full of sailor dolls.

They spilled. Most legendary acts have those one or few songs that are universally known.

I feel like Taylor hasn't gotten that yet, no shade. Maybe Love Story is the closest contender.

I always think of that one video where they were asking some black athletes to name their favorite Taylor Swift song and most of them couldn't even name one, so yeah… :deadbanana2:

Even Madonna couldn't name one.

And she performed with her! :skull:

Waitttt I love this performance. Ghost town is one of the most underrated Madonna songs and should've been a smash hit

It is just flatly true that Taylor lacks universal classics in comparison to artists of her success calibur like Madonna, MJ, The Beatles etc. She is a new kind of phenomenon where her numbers are driven by far and away the largest and most dedicated fanbase of all time, not by classic singles.

It's the KPOP-ification of western music as someone said. A huge, dedicated fanbase that does things like mass streaming and mass buying while the impact largely remains in a bubble. And no, Anti Hero is not her Billie Jean :doc:

Ubiquitous, unescapable hits:
- Love Story

- You Belong With Me

- I Knew You Were Trouble

- Shake It Off

- Blank Space

- Cruel Summer

- Anti-Hero

Anyone who argues against these despite these hits having huge statistics and real-life anecdotes backing them, you can continue to weep at your greasy keyboards; remember to wipe the crumbs off your three-fold neck skins and unwashed T-shirts.

Maybe it's the brain damage talking, get to the clinic soon.

Taylor has many enormous hits, especially in the US.  I don't think that's debatable, she is by far the most successful female musician we have.

He's not wrong but she's also part of an entire different era where the industry works very differently compared to how it used to when those classic, generation-defining hits came out. So it's a bit unfair to hold that against her.

However, one could also make the argument that Taylor swift would have never made it big to begin with if she debuted in that era with the talent and artistry she's displaying nowadays so I guess the point of her current success & domination being an enigma still stands. :cm:

Taylor Swift doesn't really have iconic songs so he's not wrong really. And the few that would contend for somewhat iconic were in her country era. Ever since full committing to pop music she's been remaking the same sound for like the past decade and every song sounds the same

I guess her reach isn't trans-generational but her popularity is certainly bolstered by marketing manipulations. She's essentially released two albums n the numbers are being touted like it's a standard release.

She is Not Beyoncé to manipulate/buy the media.

Beyoncé just Released an Album with 27 Songs.

He is right. She is huge, the brigtest star right now or even maybe the brightest that ever was, but it is funny that she doesn't have a signature song. That could also be a good thing, her albums are her body of work. Anyhow, I think that for someone like frontmen of pet shop bois it's easy to live in the world without TS, I always knew who she was, but got into her just last year. It was just a background noise for me till then

Girl i could write a thesis on Taylor's media manipulation pre-dating her debut. You're probably too far gone to last past a dissertation title judging by your cheap strawman to slick off tangent to another artist.

But even comparing her hits to the MPGs, they pale in comparison

Her 2020s no1s are so unknown that even Angels Like You and Always Remember Us This Way are more recognized by the GP

She's heavily fanbase inflated
