I actually really really love this album, while it's cohesive it doesn't feel samey at all for me, the bops are amazing, the ballads are gorgeous (with the exception of Astronaut, but I replaced it with the HMV version anyway) and I feel like most of you would appreciate it so much more had she not released 9 songs months before even announcing the album

with that being said though, wtf happened to all the songs she made with other producers? I was super excited for the OZGO / Ariel / Monsters & Strangerz tracks and they're nowhere to be seen, when she went live she said she would only play self produced outtakes as she didn't know if the producers of any other sings she made would be mad, wouldn't be surprised if the label blocked their release

Yeah, she had co-writes with Emily Warren too if I'm not mistaken.

She isn't charting any songs on UK Spotify. She deserves so much better.

the first half of the album is definitely my favorite, that Vertigo - Miss Me Too - Into The Walls - 19th Hour - Astronaut - Anything run of songs is heavenly, a great piece of pop music.

The EPs had me a little nervous about this so I hadn't really sat down and listened to this until last night. It's a really solid piece of work I'm probably gonna buy the vinyl.

was listening to this a lot before saying something, i love griff dearly ever since black hole which is still my favorite song by her

im not into cover and album name, i think shes a beautiful woman with a lot of creative ideas but this one is not standing out.

album has a lot of good songs and a lot of below mid ones, (pretending i didnt hear singles before)

example anything is masterpiece and then you have astronaut that i couldnt even finish.

19th hour is boring, and then again tears for fun is incredible

so overall album seems not on the same vibe lol... was killing the vibe and i gave it a chance to grow on me but only song that grew on me was so fast

where did you go is horrible

i will still stan her cause shes a beauty that when she has a hit its a hit,

but with such basic voice she cant opt for basic production.

im scared she gonna fade way if she doesnt do something different.

Is the "basic voice" in the album with us? :biblionny:

Def agree with your last point tho. If we couldn't get an album during her peak, we're NEVER getting G2 as she's mega-flopping. I hate to say it but I'm sure she'll be dropped in the near future  :deadbanana:

i love her voice, but i understand why people call her h&m fit rooms music. she doesnt have unique tone.

its kinda like female alec benjamin, groundbreaking songwriting and charm but doesnt stand out. hopefully cult following will keep her in the music.

Not her previewing a scrap titled "Last Nights Mascara" which honestly sounds better than 70% of the album… :deadbanana4:

she reminds me of Sigrid, so much hype around her debut and then just took wayyyyy too long to finally release an album. i can see her having a similar career. album is solid from what i've heard so far, if a bit hit and miss. gonna listen to the full thing later

She'll probably end up like Raye, mainly writing songs for others but also release her own stuff from time to time

Ill use 4 songs from this - 19th hour, miss me too, anything, and tears for fun.

Solid debut. Better than Tortuous Poets Department. Too bad she doesn't get more recognition.

Spoiler

Nothing on the album is better than Black Hole tho

Miss Me Too is still her best song, a shame nothing on the album came close to it.

I really loved her last EP but this album is a drag to get through, the lyrics are so melodramatic and depressing and maybe it just wasn't a good idea to release this during the summer when people actually wanna have fun. She doesn't really do much with her voice in terms of adding quirks or personality so it all blends into one long crying session:deadbanana2:

I don't get what people are saying about her vocals. She's an incredibly emotive vocalist and I love how every song of hers is STACKED with vocal layers

I came here to say this too. She's better on a more upbeat song imo

On track to debut at #3 on the UK Albums Chart, behind Eminem and Travis.

I enjoyed this. Kinda glad she released the EPs first because there's lots of songs I didn't vibe with at all when they were initially released, but now hearing them again in the album context they've had time to grow on me (19th hour and astronaut in particular). Anything is definitely the standout track

I honestly think tears for fun and vertigo are the top 2 here but miss me too and hiding alone are great as well. I just don't see this type of music really smashing right now.

Posted

this type of music is most definitely marketable when you have people like Gracie Abrams and Taylor smashing, she's just really bad at promoting and her label hasn't realized that she will never break out in the UK since unless you're a chav queen or a Becky Hill they simply won't check for you, they should focus on pushing her in the US

Just discovered this girl. Loving everything so far! She deserves better

The green / teal vinyl is really pretty.

No way. This is actually great. In comparison to other UK based female artists, she's doing just fine. I mean, Charli XCX only reached the top 10 with her fifth album, Crash, Rita Ora's last album only reached #6, Dua's debut peaked at #3. :clap3:
