I mean, none of my pre-ordered copies have shipped yet, so I'd have to assume that there's at least some large quantity that hasn't moved yet. That's the point I made though, that this is already the largest home-delivery of an album ever (and might be right up there with the largest deliveries of one good from one source at one time) and the logistics are probably so challenging that they hit a threshold of the number they could feasibly ship out (especially given the additional challenge of timing things so as few arrive too early as possible), as opposed to them just running out of pre-sales to ship or an artificial threshold put in place in an attempt to pace things throughout the week. 1989TV was ridiculously anomalous, in a way that doesn't seem to be happening again, because I'd be astounded if that 1.4 figure didn't include any of her website sales.

All that's to say that I wouldn't read anything into whether or not she's still capable of toppling the Adele record. The next Billboard update (should we expect it tomorrow or Monday?) will hopefully provide greater clarity.

i believe the second update for midnights came on monday https://www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/taylor-swift-midnights-sales-record-breaking-start-1235159835/

1989 tv second update also came on monday https://www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/taylor-swift-1989-taylors-version-first-day-sales-1235457435/

:jonnycat:13.13M debut secured

After getting a 313 million Spotify first day (truncated or rounded down), it would kind of be iconic if she actually manages an exactly 3.13m unit Billboard debut :jonny2:

1.4M already? :jonnycat:

We say, thank you, Peter!

Imagine the collapse, ATRL would be down for the rest of the year, some users would never be seen again due to them being institutionalized for absolutely losing their sanities

dont think so, keep mind that the 1989 tv roll out in terms of shipping copies was a whole mess, and it looks like they got it under control now like @cat1867said

I think mailing has improved so there won't be as many delayed as during 1989 tv where the USA was still in the mailing crisis

The US hasn't had a mailing crisis since 2020/early 2021 so it makes no sense that it would affect 1989 TV :michael:

With the second day boost from casuals at RSD, the still to ship copies and the usual throughout the week... :deadbanana2: on top of 700k from streaming :deadbanana2:

That's only 1.47m more than Ava Max's last album :clap3:

25 wasn't on streaming so i believe that's all pure sales.

I think it was 3.3m pure and an extra 100k TEA and some minor SEA from Hello

Can she call on Travis to have the entire NFL to mass buy??

But seriously, she should discount the iTunes versions to 5 bucks for a final push. And all the individual tracks too.

Haters are welcome to buy the record :hippo:

Go make yourself viral by recording yourself burning the cd or vinyl. We don't care.

Every sale counts! :flame:

People will complain about desperation forgetting that her 1 million vinyls are 4x as expensive as Adele and NSYNC's CDs. :gaylorcat2:

And why the f would you care what these minor league's base have to say lol. Taylor sells more in one day than they do the whole year. I couldn't care less about it.

Suddenly I kind of want a Billboard revenue chart :gaylorcat1:

She's 100% doing 2.5M+ at this point but she will not touch Adele's record.

Amazing numbers tho...this is INSANE

But now we said it. :gaylorcat2:

I wonder is Walmart still has those discounted 31 vinyls… might snag a few for some cheap dinner plates. Does anyone know if you can put vinyl in the microwave?

The absolute sorry state of pop that this is the record that breaks almost all records. We're better than this.

I hope they're holding some of the preorders and distribute them across multiple weeks.

I guess there's a shot for the record, if we apply a bit of hopium…

midnights first day physicals were 620k, and ended with 1.14M physicals first week. That's a 1.83x multiplier from 1st day to 1st week.

if we apply that 1.83x multiplier to TTPD:

1.4M x 1.83 = 2.56M, then + 600K SEAs = 3.16M

so depending on the boost from record store day sales and some potential tricks that she should totally use, it's not impossible..

I thought we were all aware that she wouldn't touch Adele's record, but she would also easily hit 2M? :skull:I don't think a single person thought she wouldn't do 2M.. maybe that's just me :michael:

I feel geriatric considering I miss the old fashion days of Taylor Swift lead singles and promo singles (prior to the album) and full album rollouts with talk show appearances, TV performances, and Target commercials. :rip: All this effortless astronomical success killed any last hope I had of that ever happening again. :dies:

Now you know how the Hive feels. :deadbanana2: It kinda sucks, but it's just what happens. At least she's supplying the Swifties COPIOUS amounts of music anndddd videos anndddd content in regards to Live Performances and the Eras Tour.

I feel since she's breaking this crazy a** seal for Sales I think in the near future there's going to be another ultimate measure of "success". It use to be Music Videos in the 80s. Then in the 90s the focus became live Performances and Sales. Then the 2000-2010s hit and it was YT Music Videos Views and Performances. This 2020s is allll streaming. Maybe the next metric of success is gonna be Music Videos again, who knows. Since there has been a MASSIVE drought in Music Videos the last couple of years. And no one doing anything needle pushing other than in streaming. We will seeeee.

She won't hit Adele but that was delusional to begin with .

2 million+ in the streaming age to me is more impressive than 3 .3 million in the cd/digital sale age where first week sales were much higher then average (monstrous sales for both of them )

Not Swifties trying to belittle Adele's monstrous 25 when it ALSO came out on the streaming era which started in 2014. She also did so without the vinyls being trendy yet or having multiple variants. No sorry, Adele's is still more impressive.

Adele is the only artist to sell more than 1M digital sales of a song in a week and the only artist to hit 3M+ album units in a week for a reason. No amount of delusional Swiftie logic will change those historic feats.

Amazing numbers but this is a bad sign for her if she wants Adele's record.

It would've needed at least 2M-2.5M first day to topple Adele's record as I imagine most of its first week units will come from the first day

There's always next time :eli:
