it only counts 600k vinyl records. Weren't there estimates of 1M+ vinyl preorders? The article also states that the 1.4M only includes pre-orders that were delivered on release day, so there is probably quite a few preorders left to be counted

I dont think it's possible. If she continues to exceed projections she will hit 2M pure sales at most. She will most likely end up with 1.8-2.5M total units.

 

Didnt 25 sell like 2M copies on the first day?

Amazing numbers but this is a bad sign for her if she wants Adele's record.

 

It would've needed at least 2M-2.5M first day to topple Adele's record as I imagine most of its first week units will come from the first day

2 million+ in the streaming age to me is more impressive than 3 .3 million in the cd/digital sale age where first week sales were much higher then average (monstrous sales for both of them )

Absolutely. If anything, the goal should now be to cross 2M total units. We knew 30 was unreachable anyway due to the state of the market

Looking at this number I would say no if it includes the bulk of pre-orders. Today's sales are far more frontloaded. She will still sell very well for the rest of the week, but not enough to close the gap or come anywhere close to that number

It really depends how many preorders are left to be shipped. Recall that 1989 TV only logged 250,000 copies by Luminate on the first day of release even though we now know preorders were approximately 850,000.

2.5m is a lock, 3m is in play, Adele's record is a long shot but possible depending on how many preorders are not being counted because they weren't "delivered" yet.
