No, but I found it to be overall of more interesting record than midnights. It does feel like she's running out of things to say lyrically though.

The music is not there so they have to cling to something

Oh end Tayecoterrorist for me :ahh:

Realistically, no.

It seems like she was more into writing lyrics vs writing music

Who th is voting "Yes"? :biblio:

People who found something new in the record. Music is subjective.

The saltiness in this thread, just say you don't like Taylor and move on.

34 is more pulling 30 than pushing 40. Which tracks are about high school?

You don't age backwards sweaty. :thing:

besides the obvious "so high school", she also mentions more school drama in the Kim song with lyrics like "you pushed me down the stairs at our school". Metaphor or not, she's stuck in her high school mentality. :thing:

Yes. A new insight into how boring her music is

Ain't that the truth. I can't imagine wasting my day listening to it.

This is what happen when you work with the same producer over and over and insisting writing your own lyrics and refused to collaborate with others.

As an old Swiftie (Red to REP mostly), I'm disappointed in her new material.

It's all just been giving 1989 with the beat slowed down and Lana-lite lyrics. (obviously not referring to folkmore here)

Personally i felt like it offered me closure to the whole Folkmore/Eras tour era. Not everyone is a David Bowie

Do we even need a storyline?

We just need good music. I hate how we just expect stories now. This is why Taylor is in the hole that she is in the first place. She can't just make fun songs. The fans demand there to be a story. And it's a shame because she can make good pop songs if she wanted to.

Her fans might disagree but I think lover & rep âtre top tier albums :gayoncecat2: her peak Idc

I means, it's Taylor. What did you expect?

Yes it has. The writing is all over the place but it's a glorious mess.

Exactly this. Why would she change her sound in the middle of the biggest tour ever?

Posted

No, but the album is good, so...

Yes, if you count that she offered us some of her most uninspired material. It really is a shame that Folklore and a lot of Evermore gave quality, maturity, and evolution only for her to regress to cheap and juvenile songwriting for the albums she's released since.

As a casual listener, I would say her melodies are samey as well as her vocal delivery in a lot of her songs. It hasn't changed in this album too.

You can rely on her lyrics but even that can be meh. I think she should stop releasing new music quite often.

So High School, Florida and imgonnagetyouback are some songs I felt like she explored more and ventured into something new. It's probably not anything new like Folklore or 1989 (genre shifts) but the album is a more refined combination of Midnights, 1989, evermore and folklore. If you relaly digest the album it has a lot more alternative-leaning songs.

i love taylor and stanned through her first album (save for speak now i wasn't a huge fan). This album isn't good to me. No shade or anything like that, I just didn't enjoy it.

Well, she just released an audiobook (a really bad one) disguised as a "music album".

That's something new.
