I knew The Anthology was going to be a problem. It oversatured the original concept and brought mixed feelings.

 

She should have kept the original album and release The Anthology as a gift next year. 
 

She should have waited longer for this album. Midnights and the last TVs are too recent and she's come with the same sound again. It's a pity because TTPD deserved Midnights fate.

Anthology deserved to be in the 80s, Midnights was the one who deserved be the 60s 

but Midnights was SO overrated/inflated by critics (especially influenced by the masterpieces folklore/evermore) that TTPD was bound to take the rolling/flack that Midnights deserved

 

justice was served in the end but in all the wrong ways

It seems to me you have an inherent misunderstanding of what the Grammys/AOTY represent.

The Grammys are not a metric of quality, neither are sales/streams or critic reviews. What the Grammys are tho, and this mostly applies to the General Field categories as those are the only ones where everyone votes, is a referendum of people who directly work in the music industry and how they feel about the music of the day.

 

Taylor having 4 AOTYs does not mean she's 4 times the artist Joni is. It does however mean that on 4 separate occasions, Taylor's musical peers, aka the industry, voted for her to win their biggest prize. The film industry has never extended this kind of respect to the MCU, so that comparison doesn't quite work.

69 and 77….. and it could get uglier. The girl could sell 10M first week and break every record known to man, but it still doesn't change the fact that these reviews are NOT AOTY material. If her name wasn't Taylor, I would even dare to say this won't even get a nomination

It's the way I dislike Taylor, haven't listened to the album, and have never begged her to leave Jack Antonoff because I'm not going to the listen to the material either way  I just felt the need to point out the hypocrisy in your dumb comment

Some in here (are they even Swifties?) trying to deflect to Bey with this convoluted defense against an MCU drag when the FACT remains that Bey has been putting out consistently acclaimed albums since 2013 (ST, Lemonade, Renaissance and now CC) with her current album being the amongst the most acclaimed of the year and will typically smash the YE lists (top 3 at worst), while Taylor's current album is now critically collapsing . This way to cope, other than the clinging onto a huge debut week, that the quality just isn't there this time. Fatigue is a thing and that's why TTPD is suffering with its reception.

Because you can't compare different industries, different award ceremonies and different voting bodies with different criteria. You can only compare the recipients of the same award of which Taylor has 4, more than all the women of color combined in the history of the ceremony. And that's what the people who work in the music industry think.
