A lot of people would say Beyoncé is the biggest pop star in the world. While Beyoncé does well compared to the rest of her peers, Taylor Swift seems to be demolishing her in touring revenue and now album sales.

 

I know that these numbers are going to cause stan wars in the future, but rather than use this thread to put down a hard working woman who just reclaimed a genre I figure we could have a discussion about why we think this is. To put it frankly, I think Beyoncé should be selling a lot more than she does, especially first week.

She doesn't promote and also Taylor is white and whether we like it or not, race is a factor. White america just loves Taylor more

Beyoncé takes a lot more risks with her music and risks are not rewarded in a musical climate that has been destroyed by Taylor and the business model that she's pushed down everyone throat's by making parasocial relationships the key to mainstream success.

While the Behive is crazy, Taylor fans are cult like, obsessed and obsessive. Like no babe, Taylor doesn't care about you, she cares about your money and she will add in these "little clues" to engage these sheep knowing they'll buy everything she drops

Taylor was part of a PSA about gay bullying way back in 2008 and later reaffirmed her support of queer youth during the Speak Now promotional campaign in 2010-11. Just because nobody cares to remember does not mean it did not happen. People who pay attention always knew where she stood, because she was public about it.

Beyonce isn't basic and being basic appeals to white people or if you're gorgeous then you have to be basic in talent. In the black community Basic isn't allowed especially for Black Women.  Beyonce is just not a safe artist like Taylor. Things would be different if Bey continued the horrible I am sasha fierce type albums or promoted like she used to. At the end of the day Beyonce is respected for her talent and has the looks to match. People **** with Beyonce because they **** with Real Superstars.
