Mind you, we don't care. It's a Taylor Swift album, so it'll go down in history regardless of its longevity — even Lover is considered a GP classic now because of the Eras Tour and Cruel Summer. If TTPD is well received + has a gigantic debut, that's all it needs to get a prosperous legacy. But also, Tay's current hype should ensure a very strong performance following week 1 anyway. 1

beckyswift Posted April 12 Posted April 12 as perfect as nothing new is, i really don't think we as a culture were ready for a song like that at the time. i don't think the general public had the ability to recognize that they build young women up just to discard them when they're bored. i mean, red was released right as the anne hathaway hate train was coming into full force. the lucky one, even though it isn't as good, had a more palpable narrative for the time. i'm just happy that we now have nothing new because it really is a career highlight. 4
cruelcooper Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Her corny ass is probably gonna wait until tomorrow (13th) to do something Or maybe she'll make Travis do all the album promo on his podcast the kii
IBeMe Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Is it mental illness that I am considering taking a sick day from work and skipping classes on release day? I literally won't be able to focus on anything other than the music lol

I think this album will be for the arts and not for the charts Each time I look at the album cover I get Bewitched x Women In Music Part III vibes Taylor genius is how she can move between things and never lose her poptimism. So a thing you can be sure about she will never go in a territory where an instrumental part takes the control over lyrics and a melody and a good bridge. The story and the narrative will always be the core of a song and not the contrary. If she has a specific talent is being able to do that on a track max martin gives to her and on a track Dessner gives to her (a thing is really not easy to make and very few pop writers have made with such continuity and also coherence). So no, i mean i love Haim and Women in music part III but Taylor doesn't create a song from a riff of a guitar, then working on drums and all the instrumental and at that point "let's write some words can fill the spaces", like some of the haim songs are. Navyofbadgals Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I'm late and I don't mean this shady but the lengths are really interesting.. can't help but feel like this is going to be more of an artistic progression from Folklore/Evermore because midnights felt more like a follow up to lover/reputation and didn't really excite me

Absolutely this. She'll probably never make songs like Venice B*tch for example, but that's okay because I'd rather have bulletproof hooks that'll never age — and the people agree based on her commercial longevity and their undying appreciation for her. Her capability to create MELODIES without sacrificing versatility and artistic integrity is just unparalled. 1

Once you've understood Her discography in this way, you'll never unhear it!

Oh yeah that's out of question, I'm just trying to lower expectations on streaming performance on a short term so the conversations in the future are centered about the album on itself and not in how it performs compared to Midnights. 1
YellowRibbon Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Btw, which song do y'all think will be the lead? I'm thinking that either the title track or My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys will be the choices.

I love to listen to it on bright sunny days that feel like springtime. 1 hour ago, Klein said: Safe & Sound, aka the 2nd best song of the Red era (after Sad Beautiful Tragic) is truly a masterpiece of songwriting. The song is so haunting, and at the same time so comforting. Her voice sounds amazing, especially on the TV (can we talk about the fact she managed to enhance this already beyond incredible song?), and the harmonies with the features are delicious. It gives me a feeling like not many songs can elicit in me. Red era Taylor truly was something else. The amount of career highlights released around that time is astronomical. Sacred & Superior is firmly planted forever as my most played song of all time. I have played that one song more than the entire Lover album put together. If she had actually put it in the Red TV tracklist, it would have made Red jump from being my third most played album of all time to my #1. 1

scottstreet Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Why is Treacherous lowkey the best song of all time? No other song makes me feel like this. It's timeless, it's bittersweet and hopeful at the same time. How did she do it?
Achilles. Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Anyways. I have devastating information to share with yall. Nobody wants to wake up to the news that I woke up to today. I found the classic atrl thread where all of the gaycats were shared back in the day and I went through all 90 pages, and not one single taycat file still exists. But I feel like there must be some somewhere because that thread is from like 2013 and I have such distinct memories of there being LWYMMD cats.
