niiall Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Broken Heart is NEVER happening, and if it deserved Fortnight's spot it would have pulled a IION?/****! or even Birds of a Feather/Lunch. That said, Fortnight is flawless but too Midnights-coded and nobody is here for a Post Malone feature. To stand out against 30 other songs she needs more than that. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived would have been her drivers license moment. 1

Not even the "reclaiming her art" narrative is going to work this time now that the critics have turned against her and the popular narrative is that she should just quit music cause she's a millionaire . Not this post getting a warning putas can't handle the fact that THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT was the final nail in that album's coffin. Better controversial era, better songs about her reputation, better idgaf songs... 4

On the heels of the biggest Spotify debut ever and her unbelievable hype, I think this was the wrong choice. Thankfully it's a good song and not a stain on her single discography, but they shouldn't be shy about moving on. 6 hours ago, maplelattes said: I dont think fortnight will surpass or tie karma's top 10 weeks on the hot 100. Fortnight spent only 5 weeks in the top 10 and its expected to leave the top 10 on the next update (tomorrow). Meanwhile Karma spent 9 weeks in the top 10. Now lets be honest here. The competition right now is VERY strong, there are many songs being a HUGE smah right now, something that wasn't happening when Karma was a single. Well it actually almost never happends.
JoeAg Posted June 2 Posted June 2 yknow I still have mixed feelings about this album, but I know a Taylor discography highlight when I hear one (But Daddy I Love Him, Gullty as Sin?, Clara Bow, Peter) so I'll commend her on those and say that I'll give this a few more chances overall this summer

That's true, but two things can be true at once. It's a very competitive environment, but Fortnight isn't a very strong single. Swifties and the GP seem more passionate about other songs on the album.
Taylor fanboy Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Fortnight is doing fine. It's not always Anti-Hero every new album. 2

If you haven't noticed yet, this is the first in a long time that an album has united the fanbase, where we've long put the album wars, you're trying obviously to re-instigate on the thread again, to bed. The album has 31 amazing tracks, and you're comeback post is pUtA wiLl bE pAnnEd. Maybe use the base or open a thread. Edited June 2 by Taylor fanboy 1 1 1 2

True, it is not in the level of smah of anti-hero, but it is not weaker than Karma.

You just unlocked something in my head it really should have been the lead track The way it also would have gotten a lot of attention bc it could either be about the unemployed or the stinky crackhead
Tusk Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Not having the original tortured poet, Stevie Nicks, singing a verse on the album is still a crime. 1

A hit dog will holler I wrote an entire paragraph about the album and the only thing you noticed is me saying that ttpd does the IDGAF about my bad reputation theme better than puta... Anyways But Daddy, I Love Him, Clara Bow, WAOLOM, How did it end >>>>>>> The ear pollution that is the Max Martin half of reputation

fridayteenage Posted June 2 Posted June 2 #1 album weeks by decade Taylor 2000s: 11 weeks 2010s: 29 weeks 2020s: 35 weeks Adele 2010s: 34 weeks 2020s: 6 weeks Morgan 2020s: 29 weeks Drake 2010s: 27 weeks 2020s: 9 weeks Whitney 1980s: 25 weeks 1990s: 20 weeks 2000s: 1 week Michael 1980s: 43 weeks 1990s: 6 weeks 2000s: 2 weeks Mariah 1990s: 26 weeks 2000s: 4 weeks Beatles 1960s: 111 weeks 1970s: 8 weeks 1990s: 5 weeks 2000s: 8 weeks Monkees 1960s: 37 weeks Fleetwood Mac 1970s: 32 weeks 1980s: 5 weeks 1990s: 1 week Elton 1970s: 39 weeks Garth 1990s: 50 weeks 2000s: 1 week 2010s: 1 week Herb Alpert 1960s: 26 weeks Barbra 1960s: 5 weeks 1970s: 11 weeks 1980s: 6 weeks 1990s: 2 weeks 2000s: 1 week 2010s: 2 weeks Zeppelin 1960s: 1 week 1970s: 27 weeks 2000s: 1 week Eagles 1970s: 27 weeks 1990s: 2 weeks 2000s: 1 week Eminem 2000s: 22 weeks 2010s: 11 weeks 2020s: 1 week Prince 1980s: 33 weeks 2000s: 2 weeks Well that was fun. So Taylor's the only one with double digits in three decades, let alone what people were talking about earlier which was a specific album taking double digits in three decades. It's interesting how several of the above slayed so much in one decade then little to none otherwise. Most dominant decades Beatles 111 (60s) Garth 50 (90s) Michael 43 (80s) Elton 39 (70s) Monkees 37 (60s) Taylor 35 (20s) Adele 34 (10s) Prince 33 (80s) Fleetwood 32 (70s) Morgan 29 (20s) Taylor 29 (10s) Just passed Adele's 2010s dominance this week. Poets alone could get this decade to 4th; I assume she'll get to 2nd sometime. Beatles are untouchable. 4 3
wastedpotential Posted June 3 Posted June 3 It really just hit me that another parallel between The Apotheosis and evermoral is the fact that there's really just one clear genre standout that doesn't really fit in with the other tracks. As someone still deliberating between the two for the top spot of my ranking, TA's unicorn track is one of the best on the album (So Hymnal), and evermore's is the absolute worst (No Body, No Christ, It's Easter) does stand as a point in it's favor
