Sabrina Carpenter Posted April 18 Posted April 18 i'm almost done listening to the album and so far i would rank this in the middle of her discography a lot of the songs start to sound the same by the end the person who said this album is as if Midnights and Folklore (with weaker lyrics) had a child got it right
pinkbowvintage Posted April 18 Posted April 18 (edited) 2 minutes ago, Jaguarqueef said: Well yes! Beats are a very important element in song creation. And it seems to be a very very common complaint, without a good beat the melody suffers. and if you just have lyrics, that's just spoken poetry (and not even good poetry this go around) Let's try harder to rebuttal next time! There's some great beats and melodies in here, though. Guilty as Sin has a classic Michelle Branch-esque driving chorus and sexy vibe. Down Bad is an angry little bop. I Can Do It With a Broken Heart dabbles a tiny bit in hyperpop. It's not all just lyrics, there's just a lot going on here. Edited April 18 by pinkbowvintage 1
Magickarp Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Fortnight is T3 on the album x And idk where y'all are getting WCS from
VeniceBeach Posted April 18 Posted April 18 (edited) I just listened to the whole album and... It's definitely better than Midnights and it's not Midnights 2.0. If you were expecting a completely different genre from Taylor like rock or pop anthems like 1989, you'd be disappointed, but if you didn't have any expectations like I did, you get a great concept album that has a slight experimental sound to it. It's beautifully written, it reminds me of Lana (and she's one of my favorite singers), and it seems this album was made for us alt-pop fans I like the use of live instruments on most of the songs and their build-up, to me this album is what Midnights was supposed to be... Taylor you will always be famous! Edited April 18 by VeniceBeach 8 2

Making it track 1 is already tasteless, but the making it the lead single is beyond crazy. I like Fortnight, but Taylor really is not the best sometimes at tracklist order. 1

Vespertine Posted April 18 Posted April 18 The way I have chosen to believe But Daddy I Love Him is about a he/him lesbian rather than Ratty. All the other lyrics fit the narrative of conservative religious homophobes. Now who is ready for THAT discourse!? 1

Like I like some of Melodrama, but it doesn't touch Pure Heroine and I do not like NFR or Ocean Blvd (outside of like 4-5 tracks from each), but I do really like Chemtrails and Blue Bannisters. Timeless Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Just now, Taylor fanboy said: IMO: 1. Hints of WCS. No Electric Touch (too early Taylor-style to be replicated). Foolish One positively none. It's mostly a sexy love album. The photos are catfishing again. The album is very wordy. No WCS sister? No song as good as Foolish God? Not a break-up rock album? ALBUM CANCELLED. 10K DEBUT SALES (IF SHE'S LUCKY). NO BILLBOARD HOT 100 TOP 10 DOMINATION. BUBBLING UNDER CHARTS. CRITICALLY PANNED. BELOW 50 ON METACRITIC. 5
