I think 3 million is a set up and reach lol. I think there is ambiguity because they dont know for sure if she even crossed the 2 million mark. I think she will do 2M-2.5M at most which is INSANE in of itself

This is what I'm thinking as well. IF the 2 million pre orders rumor is true, I can see 2.5-2.7 but if not, 2-2.3M. Even if she has sold 2 million now, she needs 1 million more for 3M AND 1.5 million more to beat Adele. 3 million just seems unrealistic but I also doubted her on Midnights and 1989 TV and Cruel Summers entire run and a 4th album of the year so what do I know? The first three days of streaming will be very telling

I won't entertain theories about THAT record right now because it's silly to do so unless sales reports start to imply otherwise, but this album is definitely going to split the charts open like nothing else since then.

Exactly! it just sounds unrealistic and even if we give it the benefit of the doubt I doubt we'd be so off right? Like yes, we learned to not underestimate her but we are also not delusional and I think thinking 3M is a thing ir a major reach...let alone Adele's record tbh.

Ok so if "well over" means 2.3 million, and another 600k will come from streaming, then there would "only" need to be 600k in sales to beat the record this week.  How many people are going to go to target this week to buy a copy?

I don't know why @Feanoradded that 2m prediction to the OP. All they said was if only 1% of her Instagram followers bought the record it would translate to 2m+ sales. Clearly that kind of fantasy math never translated into actual sales for absolutely no artist ever
