discussion How early do you arrive at the airport

I'm at the airport right now so I'm curious

if it's my home airport (O'Hare) i know pretty much how long everything's gonna take so I like to arrive like an hour before boarding so I can eat a sitdown meal / relax

I arrive a good 3 hours before departure time, don't wanna risk losing my flight or having to be in a hurry. I also like to relax and enjoy a good meal before boarding.

 

During my flight I sleep and play on my Switch. Poor HagStation. It had a good run.

Talking to strangers (anywhere) is crazy. Couldn't imagine doing that. Especially on a plane where you're trapped for 2+ hrs and could end up with a someone who talks your ******* head off. I'm headphones in. Don't bother me.

If no lounge access then an hour before the flight

Almost always 1 hour. I don't ever fly on busy days, though. If I had to, I'd arrive closer to 2 hours before flight.

Immediately I book the ticket, no matter how far before, I immediately carry a tent, some of my personal belongings and I head to the airport, it is my home now until the flight.

depends on airport and time of day/week. There are places/times I show up an hour before and still have a smooth experience, there are places I would arrive 3 hours early just to be safe.

 

Sometimes it's also just nice to show up early and get a good meal and some quiet time before a flight too.

Usually like 3 hours before. And I listen to music or watch TV the whole flight. Not taking those AirPods out for anyone.

i learned my lesson when i was telling my family not to go to the airport so early for an international flight. we were so last minute + at the wrong gate that the whole plane was waiting for us to takeoff + some of the passengers were staring at us walking to our seats

 

now it's 2 hrs early for domestic; 3 hrs early for international

 

also depends on if ur going through security during a busy time of day/season

Always 2-3 hours ahead of time. My Virgo ass couldn't handle being there any later.

3 hours before, domestic or international. like chilling at the gate and going to the outlet stores

Usually try and get there 3 hours early just in case.

 

if it's a short flight (3 hours or less) I just listen to music. If it's longer I'll usually switch between watching films/shows and listening to music. I can't sleep on flights no matter what.
