ACaseOfBlues Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Dua reached MPG status with the blockbuster era that was Future Nostalgia. The singles to her follow up, Radical Optimism, have yet to make make an impact, however. Given this, is she still an MPG? 4 2 21
vale9001 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 (edited) Seriously in the US clearly not but in Europe, south americans and part of asia yeah definitely Edited April 15 by vale9001 2
JO1s Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Is mirai skipless? The answer to both questions is a very obvious yes. 1

Laura Palmer Posted April 15 Posted April 15 As long as detractors keep making threads like this the answer is yes 1
Spark Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Yes. I mean, she got her last massive smash was less than a year ago (Dance the Night) and her new singles have done well when you're not comparing them to her massive smashes.
Blackout2006 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I don't think flopping (which I don't think is the case for Dua currently) revokes your "MPG status" because then none of our faves would be MPGs... Once an MPG, always an MPG 3
Message In A Bottle Posted April 15 Posted April 15 (edited) I don't think she ever was. A lot of the new girls will never reach the highs of stardom that Taylor, Beyoncé, Katy, Ariana, Madonna, and even Kesha, to be honest, had. I do think Dua comes across as faceless just because her voice is extremely uninteresting. It's a good thing she has a good team behind her and an ear for hits, because outside of that, she's nowhere near being a main pop girl . Edited April 15 by Ethereal 2 1 6
mike_int Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Well she is definitely the one who is not exploiting or using her personal life as marketing point to sell things 7
Trent W Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Tbh all her peers are going through some kind of underperformance Doja, Olivia, Billie(HTE) The newer generation just can't find proper longevity in a oversaturated market Especially when the older ones like Taylor, Beyonce, Rihanna and Adele still own the market and are 10x bigger 1
Sabrina Carpenter Posted April 15 Posted April 15 (edited) Bebe Rexha is more of an MPG than she is Edited April 15 by Sabrina Carpenter 5 1 8 2 2

Delirious Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Yes 100% Even if shes underperforming currently (debateable) her touring stats are amazing Not everyone needcs to be Taylor or Beyonce levels of success to be a MPG - also why do we still use this term? its so stupid
Relampago. Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Ya tbh, I just went to Europe for the past couple of weeks and she's massive there She's still moderately big in the US too, but I was shocked to see how much more famous she is in Europe
perpetual novice Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Anyone saying no has an antiquated view on what an MPG is. Fame and success is not as meteoric and steady as it was a decade ago. 1
