Being republican is Hollywood poison atp in time so vast majority of right wings celebs aren't being honest about their politics. His dad posted a transphobic meme on FB too. This is all just my assumptions on her but here goes: I think Taylor is one of those girls whose early life was Republican as hell - surrounded by Republicans in her family and general surroundings that shaped who she was. My personal theory is that she used to be a Republican until about her mid 20s/1989 era when she moved to NY and started hanging around more liberally minded people who changed her views on things socially.  While I don't think she's Republican herself anymore, with so much of her early life being entrenched in it, I think she will always have some of that upbringing in her within certain behaviors and associations in her personal life.
 

That being said, am I surprised she fell for a closeted republican boy who likely only plays liberal for the cameras? Not at all lmao. Travis is prob like most of the hot republican football player boys she wrote crushes about in her early albums.
