Josh
Both lead singles are controversial and were the exact opposite of what Gaga is known for musically, but which of these lead singles was a bolder move? Edited April 12 by Josh

Happylittlepunk
Born this way. She was trying to deliver a message with that first single. New producer, writers, and sound. perfect illusion was just her trying to do something new but she wasn't trying to change pop culture like born this way.
Jude
Born This Way all the way. That one almost killed her career but talent pulled through at the end.

Vixen Eyes
44 minutes ago, SamirahAyesha said: Born This Way was very divisive and polarizing - not just visually, but even the music itself was so weird and unconventional. Instead of playing it safe with another The Fame RedOne coded album she did a 180 and fully changed her sound and aesthetic, she lost a lot of support and fans during the album's rollout odd cos thats when i became a fan (at 11 years old) lol
Blue Monday
Perfect Illusion was a bold move in the sense that it was a horrible lead single choice
Shimenawa
BTW. PI came and went. She never did promo performances for it.
alfonso12
Musically, Perfect Illusion was bolder. At least Born this way was a catchy dance track (yes, I know the production and the lyrics were risky) but dance music in general was trendy back then. PI was way too-rock ish for the mainstream music scenario of that time, everyone was doing tropical-influenced songs (Sorry, Work, Once dance, Cheap thrills, I took a pill in Ibiza, Side to side, Hotline bling, etc). Now if we take in consideration their images, videos, performances and everything else during those eras, Born this way was riskier.
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted April 12 ATRL Moderator Share Posted April 12 Thematically/statement-wise, Born This Way. But sonically, honestly Perfect Illusion. It was a bit of an unexpected vibe for her for a lot of people.
x æ a-xii
porn this gay copying Madonna shamelessly after previously being heralded as her sucessor felt so reductive at the time x that other song no one cared at the time, not even gaga herself lol Edited April 12 by x æ a-xii x
