tbhmatt Posted July 23 Share Posted July 23 I know we're all currently getting very excited over the streaming numbers and potential chart placement, but I want to take a second to revisit the *quality* of this song and package. This is an almost textbook perfect example of how you announce yourself as a solo artist. Every detail in both the song and video is carefully curated in a very intentional way, there's genuine thought that has gone in to this. It's clear that Jade didn't just want to release a song, she wanted to create a moment. It's somehow authentic, outlandish and addictive all at the same time without ever crossing a line in to abrasive or unlistenable territory. The success and numbers is such a vindicating feeling; let this be a clear signal to labels everywhere that when you give your artists the space and time to develop their own craft and then BACK them with the budget to deliver on their ideas, you can penetrate the public consciousness and make an impact straight away. People are tuning in to this because there's a point Jade had to make and there's so many layers to digest and dissect.
