Global 198 (ambitious) UK 3 i also see her debuting in the top 10 tm on UK spotify. one thing she has that the other girls didn't is def great playlisiting in the UK and the USA... that'll really help in the long run.

toast Posted July 19 Posted July 19 34 minutes ago, das_jerk said: I think its unfortunate that people's frame of reference for popular music is so limited nowadays because this song is literally nothing like a Kpop song. I mean, have you heard many (any?) Kpop songs that criticize the music business... Kpop is defined by pastiche - the piecing together of disparate elements into one song. (Pastiche defines post-modernism and has a long history. Even The Beatles were using such a technique back in the '60a on "A Day in the Life." Kpop didn't invent pastiche, far from it.) The whole point of this song is that the disparate elements all relate: they are meant to represent the highs and lows of success within the exploitative music industry. The parts do not make sense without one another, which is not true of Kpop. This multiplicity is made more evident in the music video which divides the modern pop star into multiple characters, but the whole point is that these women are linked to one another, or more accurately pitted against one another, in competition. So, let's give JADE credit. If this song is not wholly original, it is much more biting and thought provoking and POLITICAL than any Kpop song. An anti-capitalist queen What a debut. Ntm on k-pop - it's been giving us experimental pop decadence for over a decade. The comparison isn't necessarily a bad thing. I agree that content-wise this isn't giving k-pop (even though I'd argue that some k-pop videos are very critical of the industry), but the first thing I thought of when I heard this is I Got A Boy's production. 1
kos1692 Posted July 19 Posted July 19 The MV has THAT replay value!!!! She slays with every outfit!!!!! 5
Rainy Devil Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I really like this. I checked the other LM girls solos and they were alright, at best, but this one is great.
SeeingStars1515 Posted July 19 Posted July 19 not that its a contest but i still think Dont say Love was the strongest debut of the three. I like this song a lot - and it's a close second, but slightly too frenetic. (Sorry Perrie lol) I still hope for an LM reunion :-) 1
Exodus Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Jade is my favorite from LM so I say this with a little disappointment but the song and video are chaotic ala I Luv It. The chorus is heavenly and the piano bits sounds like Bad Romance but the rest sounds like a fever dream. 1
Zaminamina Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Honestly I wasn't aware of her but she SLAYEEEEEEEED SO HARD. Who is this girl and why she was under my radar? Can we actually make her successful? She served ART. 2
MusicIsMyMaster Posted July 19 Posted July 19 This track is really interesting. Im just not sure it has replay value? Does anyone else feel this way?
