Kayseri Mantisi Posted April 5 Posted April 5 because BEYINCÉ is just as good as COWBOY CARTER so she couldn't cancel 1
alexrex Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Because she learned from Taylor Swift. Scamming your fans is the way to become a billionaire 2 1 3 5
Burn Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Because she cares about the environment and would rather use the already pressed early editions of the album than to send them to landfill. Love my eco friendly fave. 3
Riot Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 Because we all think that our faves are some kind of artistic visionaries but at the end of the day they're all about the "charts and not the arts" 1
NEX Posted April 5 Posted April 5 The one outcome that anyone should care about is that is we got several excellent songs on streaming for free in addition to a full long album of 20+ songs on physicals. Had she cared about people whining about her "scamming" them, we wouldn't have gotten those extra songs. 1
byzantium Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Selling something that people voluntarily want to buy isn't a scam though… Spoiler It's just capitalism
Attitude Posted April 5 Posted April 5 She should've labeled this the standard and released a "deluxe" later with the full track list.
swissman Posted April 5 Posted April 5 What is unfinished about them? She simply added more songs to the streaming release once these were already pressed. There's no scam. No fan bought anything that they didn't know was final sale and the only time one could possibly argue that what was advertised was not what was promised is the 1.5 days when the tracklist was released prior to the album launch, a time when non of the Hive could figure out what it meant anyway. If you bought an album with no cover and no tracklist and then are mad at the cover and tracklist, that's on you. That's not a scam.
Joaco95 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 probably all the songs couldn't fit the vinyl so she decided to go with the same number of songs for the cd idk

If the vinyls had those extra songs on it, would it have sold less? The only plausible thing she seems to care about here is lost money in re-pressing all those vinyls and CDs after she decided she would add more songs to the streaming release, and frankly I'm glad of that. All that waste just to have everything line up would have been stupid. The other option would have been to re-do everything and sell both versions, in which case that would be more of a "charts not arts" thing. Edited April 5 by swissman
Triton Posted April 5 Posted April 5 The real crime is Ya Ya missing the rest meh but at least she blessed us with that song so all is forgiven.

Well it was called a "Limited Edition" which is basically the same as a collector's edition. It denotes that there's something different about it be it cover, colour, tracklist, format, etc. I agree it could have quelled people's (imo over-dramatic) anger to be more specific about what it was...like "SPECIAL COWBOY CARTER ORIGINAL VERSION COLLECTOR'S EDITION" but...she didn't. And it still makes sense imo.
KingWitch Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Her fans don't know any better, they believe everything she tells them and defend all her fables. If she tells them this is how the limited edition was going to be, they believe it, poor things
ImpressMeMuch Posted April 5 Posted April 5 You really are over a week late in posting this and didn't think to search for a thread huh
Blumoon Posted April 5 Posted April 5 This was done deceitfully. The purpose was to sell off the vinyls even though they changed the tracklist. Thats why there was no transparency. Thats ******* gross. 1

Aaron Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) The whole thing is just really annoying and throws off her perfectionist vibe. I wouldn't care as much if the missing songs didn't make up one of the best sections on the album. Edited April 5 by Aaron

swissman Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) I just can't bring myself to think that getting a unique, original version of the album that comes with additional vocals and other elements (despite lacking 5 of the songs on the standard release) is some sort of affront as a fan or music buyer. Did we get something not quite how we expected it (despite not being promised anything in particular, either way)? Yes. But if we were tricked into getting something more special and unique than the same album wth a different cover, I'm not mad AT ALL. Call me delusional or whatever, but I don't see this as a minus. It's a clear bonus. Anyone who owns this now owns a piece of history that will surely only grow in worth over the years. It's much like owning the first edition of a famous novel, it's worth much more than a second edition, even if the second has added text. Now, for those out there who ONLY listen via physical formats, I get the aggravation because all the songs are great so one would want to be able to hear them. But if your only option to hear the music is to BUY IT PHYSICALLY, were you tricked? If you claim you wouldn't have bought the record had you known...this means you'd still not have listened to the album yet. And wasn't hearing the album ASAP (even if it's slightly shorter) the exact reason you would have bought a pre-order? Edited April 5 by swissman
