liquiddiamonds Posted March 29 Share Posted March 29 (edited) I personally don't see them giving less than 8 for this record, because it's an experiment that actually ranks among her best work, with a great narrative behind it, and other critics have embraced it. I don't see it overtaking Rena's score, since it was their AOTY, possibly their current AOTD after Fiona, and it would mean Beyoncé topped that. Not even Frank Ocean did that from Channel Orange => Blonde. I see it getting the When I Get Home/Lemonade treatment: between 8.4-8.7 after following a career peak. If they were not to hand a BNM, and found some songs in the middle to the end portion to be a let down, like other critics did, it'd receive between a 8 and 8.2, their favorite grades for albums that will still rank highly in their EOYs, but they are not hyped as much as they could've. I personally don't see them handing it a 7, unless they felt like an underwhelmed release coming from Renassaince. That'd happen only if Cowboy Carter were to be filled with Texas Hold 'Ems, which is not the case at all.
