The7thStranger
Madonna with ease, but Donna has some stellar releases and she was the blueprint.
idkwiam
Madonna has better consistency but Donna had the better peak imo
Marioland
I prefer Madonna in the 90's.
LikeaRebel
Outside of Once Upon a Time & Bad Girls (which are both flawless) I don't really use Donna's 70s albums. Madonna wins this for me.

Live & More from 1978 also captures what a bulletproof collection of hits she'd amassed in a short period. Love Trilogy and Four Seasons are my favourites because they're perfect BODIES, but Bad Girls has the HITS and Once Upon A Time is so gorgeous and left field at times. I Remember Yesterday is probably the least essential of the last 5 but saying that feels crazy since it houses I Feel Love. 1

Absinthe
They both have huge amazing hits from these respective eras, but Madonna in the 80s has better deep cuts than Donna in the 70s. On top of that Madonna had so many hits she had to leave several off The Immaculate Collection for lack of room. Madonna takes it. pride4jc1222
If On the Radio counts as part of 1979, then Donna Summer's 70s discography wins easily. If it counts as 1980, then it's close.

AxelFox
Donna's 70s output is some the most important contributions to modern music. Madonna's 90s material would've made for a more interesting debate. Her 80's output is nowhere on par with that of Donna's.
