MatiRod Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Country becoming the default sound of pop music in the 2020s was not on my bingo card 3
Afterglow Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Disgusting. Especially with him already being a culture vulture, he's gonna align himself with a known racist. Interesting. 2
Walley Posted March 20 Posted March 20 This is proof that Beyonce isn't accepted in Country simply because of her race. 1

Moonlight Nation Posted March 21 Posted March 21 1 hour ago, Burn said: So by extension Taylor supports Morgan Wallen. That's not quite how it works, but going by that logic her association with Lana Del Rey would have already served this purpose, since she was supporting his most recent album last year and has featured his music in behind-the-scenes videos for photoshoots. And that's ignoring Taylor's own relationship with the vile Matty Healy. OT: I find it hilarious how so many are labelling Morgan Wallen a 'known racist' and are so outraged at Post Malone associating himself with him when both actually had very similar controversies. Wallen was filmed using the n-word to refer to a white friend during a drunken night-out, while Post has a video of him casually using the word in a Vine that was subject of discourse within the hip hop community in 2015. Neither were in racist contexts like Justin Bieber's infamous video or the stuff Camila Cabello used to repost on her Tumblr, more like them speaking as if they were black, but obviously still extremely wrong. I totally understand why Wallen's case has uglier connotations given the unfortunate racist culture in the country community and the wave of support he's gotten from certain demographics because of the reactions to the incident - even though Wallen himself never acted as a victim of 'cancel culture' when referring to the backlash he got and never publicly embraced this audience in the way someone like Jason Aldean or Kid Rock did. But the hypocrisy from certain groups of white people is transparently performative and clouded by their pre-existing and grossly classist biases of country artists and the genre as a whole. Focusing on the outrage from white people because the communities actually affected are within their right to want nothing to do with him and anyone else who got caught saying/writing the word regardless of context, which in this case would also include artists like Caroline Polachek, Björk, and Dua Lipa. 3 1
KingWitch Posted March 21 Posted March 21 And nothing will happen to him since ya'll only care about cancelling popgirls
