16 years ago, Madonna Betrayed Britney

I really don't understand why M has paid this song dust since 2008, like it's easily her biggest recent hit and in the US it's her biggest hit since "Music" in 2000..... she really should've performed it during each of her recent tours especially the current one. It's the one Madonna songs young millennials and older Gen Z in the US really know.

There’s nothing off topic, maybe it was just a struggle for you to comprehend?

Danja’s career was started off being a co-producer for Timbaland and the music made was an exact copy and paste of Timbaland’s sound that was pretty unavoidable in the Pop scene at that point.

So connecting simple dots… Madonna was chasing a trend with this like Britney also did herself a few months prior to 4 Minutes.

Britney was working with Danja already before that Timberlake album was out, and nothing on Blackout sounds like that dated mess laced with their godawful signature beatboxing.

OT: Madonna betrayed herself. Jumping on what was hot for that very minute marked not only the beginning of her commercial downfall, but artistic too.

Madonna has never been about anyone but herself and I can't at people expecting loyalty in showbusiness.

Why? Didn’t look like she sided with either.

Yes she collabed with Britney before JT, but it didn’t seem like she and Britney became BFF’s. She just gave her some life advice and mentoring.

Plus, Madonna invited Brit to perform with her in S&S tour to help her with her comeback in 2008

Agreed.

Even GITM gets more love from her.

Also 4M is such a bop

Maybe her and JT had a fallen off ? they rarely met again

but also the song makes no sense to do alone

I love Madge, but she kinda betrayed Britney by doing this with the man who shall not be named

Yes

im Not sure why Britney stans are in retrospectively supporting. Maybe It cause it’s Madonna perhaps. 4 minutes was a smash though, Madonna needed that hit so that prioritised first. it charted for months/it wasn’t frontloaded so it was worth it

What makes you think Madonna knew the ins and outs of their relationship? Wasn't the conceit of Britney's book that nobody knew the real story except them and their teams?

I will say that I find it interesting that Madonna won't touch Justin with a ten-foot pole these days. There isn't a single song from Hard Candy on the new tour, just a few visual references.

And Britney didn’t do anything wrong to Justin? Didn’t she cheat?

Why do britney stans act like they stan the most innocent angel out there? She herself calls herself a bich :deadbanana:

stanning truly is a problem like wtf.

That song btw is a BOP

Madonna committed a CRIME by not putting it on the Celebration Tour, those horns would get everyone up except disabled queen from Vancouver.

This.

Song Issa bop and I glad they worked together.

Not sure about that, but she did make her worst album with him so she deserves the lashings :giraffe:

Gorl were you under a rock last November? She exposed him in her book. He cheated first multiple times and so she cheated with wade. And he pressured her into having an abortion at 19 and all he did was sit there strumming a guitar and then trashed her name through the mud like the p*ssy ass b!tch he is

Hard Candy is not her worst album when American Life is right there

I mean she was just chasing that trend like Britney also did herself (working with Danja, a certified Timbaland clone and doing an electro-Pop/R&B album a year after FutureSex).

The Timbaland/JT sound was insanely influential in the Pop sphere 2006-2009.

The rewriting of history :ahh: Justin Timberlake and Timbaland were begging Britney to let them be on her comeback single in March 2007 and she told them she didn't want them. Timbaland was still crying about it six months later. She didn't chase after them - they came begging her for a hand out.

That would be because Timbaland's sound was shaped by Danja's work. Timbaland didn't just pull somebody off the street and teach them to be a clone. He picked somebody whose sound he liked and wanted to revamp his own sound so he didn't keep recycling. It's no different than Max Martin and Dr. Luke.

Anyway, Blackout started recording in March 2006 and Danja was already involved by July 2006 - months before FS/LS. Britney's sound was already there well before JT - influences in Blackout can be found on In The Zone, Original Doll and the Greatest Hits cuts. If we're going to give anybody credit for influencing Blackout, it's Kylie for Impossible Princess, Madonna for her work with Mirwais and Ray Of Light, Mariah for melisma and, of course, Janet.

You can't cheat on someone that is actively cheating on you. Justin Timberlake got caught cheating with Nicole Appleton way before Wade Robson ever came into the picture.

OT: Britney never cared because she never even focused on Justin. He's the weird one who spent 20 years focused on a woman who only bothered to even shade him twice after their relationship ended.

Perhaps she found out about how JT had treated Britney and everything she went through because of him and that is why she doesn't perform or acknowledge the song anymore.

Yup this is the logical explanation.

Cause Madonna is very passionate to not be predictable, she mostly pays dust to her 00s hits in the past 3 tours which should've been givens on the setlists.

I mean, she doesn't even perform Celebration… at the Celebration Tour. No Music, Hung Up being mashed up with the abominable remix only she likes, no Celebration, no Give it 2 Me, no Candy Shop, no 4 Minutes (at least Don't Tell Me survived).
