I guess if they're going all out w the nostalgia factor it makes more since why we had (have) such a long wait…

plus they prob chose to release it in 2026 so they can use the 30th anniversary angle at least for promo purposes

another Scott interview/quote about it:

"I wasn't quite sure how that was going to happen. But I had a phone conversation with Kevin Williamson, who I knew at the very beginning of my career when I did Dawson's Creek and Scream 3. I hadn't talked to him in a few years, and he just said, 'I want you to do it.' I said, 'What could I possibly be doing?!' And he explained it to me, and I thought, 'Oh! Okay. That makes sense.' There is a world where you will not have to suspend disbelief. How about that? We'll see. I'm excited about it, though."

"There's been 25 years in between and a ton of movies. At no point, was anyone ever like, 'Are you gonna do that one?' Because they all know I died. It doesn't make any sense. But I'm thrilled."

"I've been very fortunate to be a part of some great television shows, some really revered and loved shows, and people will talk to me about those. But over the course of 20 years, nothing has stood the test of time like the people who are Scream fans. People love it, everywhere I go. I'm not a horror guy. I enjoy the genre, but it's not my go-to. But I understand and appreciate those who love it. It's everywhere. I can be in Australia or Italy or California or New York, and people love it and will talk to me about it. There was a woman interviewing me here today, doing the same thing you're doing. She brought her producer along, and he had a Ghostface tattoo on his wrist. It's crazy. I think it's amazing."

and Jasmin's Scream 7 look?

It's obviously a flashbacks then, for him to say "that makes sense."

The hair is giving omg :jonny5: Maybe I'll actually like Mindy this time around given that those untalented Radio Silence hacks won't be there to give a great actress like Jasmin poor direction.

just rewatched the two latest and GAWD they were well made. we were robbed on SUCH a fine requel trilogy. i will always hate them.

let's see how Kevin will save the franchise, i bet he will come up with something interesting. the only thing that would be shocking / make sense would be for the Carpenter sisters to be the opening kill on 7. but they would never agree to make than happen, as we all know. it's ok, my take it that it will be meta and have something to do with breaking the fourth wall like it happened in scream 3 [considering they're basically remaking the movies in the same setting / with killers having same motives as the originals (boyfriend in stu's house / first killers family coming for them on a stage for the final showdown)]

Jasmin is already getting racist and homophobic backlash from the usual crop of people. It's sad to see she had to disable her comments for safety.

At least they didn't scrap the entire requel cast/storyline with Chad/Mindy coming back so Jenna Ortega returning is actually realistic in the future and she can assume the role of main Carpenter sister (as it should have always been)

if ppl want to boycott they should but the reactions towards the actors/some of the commentary is so unnecessary and vile. regardless of whether they're supposedly rich/privileged (and can avoid the paycheck or not) we don't know them irl and it's still their job and ppl need/want to work (let alone the fact that whole industry is beyond scummy but alas) it just feels like ppl want a reason to jump on/openly hate some actresses (as usual) more than actually boycott anything (a lot of the incendiary accounts on social media are kids/trolls too so I guess we can only sigh and keep it moving) meanwhile the actual Spyglass boycott:

and I'm not posting this as a "ha ha in your face" + Scream 7 might still flop but if it does it likely won't have to do with "the boycott" so what is this gratuitous hate towards the creatives for exactly?

All these people boycotting 7 because "SpYgLASs eVIl COmPaNy!!11" aren't telling each other to throw out their iPhones made by child slaves in third world countries, they've always been stupid. Despite how Heart Eyes looks kind of mid-tier to me, I'm happy to see that it's doing well and surpassed expectations.

ppl need to accept that 5 & 6 are subpar compared to 1-4. 6 was an "improvement" but it's still ass compared to the original four films.

honestly Melissa fans need to realize ppl were only excited to see the trio and GF back, Sam and Tara are disposable imo.

theyre the Rachel Carruthers and Jamie Lloyd of Scream
