a Christmas movie is too risky, what if it gets delayed several months and plays in theaters in april 2024? :bibliahh:

It'll still do fine in April, it's Scream.

Imagine if they pay Jenna Ortega the same amount as Neve :deadbanana4:

I attended her Q&A panel at the convention this past weekend, she said she only got around to watching 6 about two weeks ago as it "took her a minute, I wonder why?" - she doesn't wish the movies ill will, she wants them to do well for them and for us fans, but there's someone "at the top" that "only cares about $". She'd be "down for another one, if they pay me". She was very honest and just super cool about the whole thing. When I got to meet her I told her it was correct and bad ass of her for standing up for herself. She knows the fanbase loves her.

Re-watched every film in October  Love them all for different reasons, truly my favorite franchise

Something I was thinking about though was the Ghostface calls, not just the killer's dialogue but also the delivery. I haven't really loved them since 4. Roger's work in that movie specifically was so entertaining paired with Kevin's script. He felt menacing but in a fun way: "Not an app" "Do I sound like a Trevor to you?" "People live people die... and you'd better start running." "You know Rebecca, it doesn't sound to me like you're in a hospital." :dies:

I also think it's one of the stronger instances in which I could easily hear Jill or Charlie saying these lines. Sometimes it feels like they write Ghostface's dialogue without the killer's identity in mind (which I don't really care about, just an observation.)

There's definitely some great phone moments in 3, 5, and 6, but on the whole I feel like Ghostface's dialogue in those entries is a little more inconsistent (as is Roger's voice work.)

Regarding Ghostface’s phone calls, Scream 6 was definitelly solid in that department. I mean, opening scenes phones calls, Gale’s apartment phone calls. They did the best given the new setting of this movie.

“Sorry about your boyfriend” delivery line was so sarcastically and sweetery brought with substantial wit that my cinema laughed during it. They got killers’ pitch and tone right I think.

“**** the movies!” and so on.

I really like Ghostface's opening dialogue but certain lines in the apartment sequence didn't land for me like "carved him up like a Christmas goose" or Roger's delivery in the park scene. However, I've seen 6 upwards of seven times and it has yet to get old

Speaking of which, something I don't think 6 gets enough credit for is sticking with an actual through-line from beginning to end and that through line carrying thematic significance. The other films all try to incorporate something that ultimately gets abandoned. For example, Scream 2 has the first three targets sharing names with the original victims but that never gets resolved. Scream 3 has 'the killer is targeting cast members the order they die in the script' and while Mark does add that there are numerous versions, it still just kind of fizzles out by the third act. Scream 4 was supposed to have elements of the first film's kills (and it actually does in the deleted scenes which I'll forever be upset about) but that through-line never materializes. Then 5 has elevated horror commentary and each initial victim being somehow related to past characters, but again it doesn't add anything and goes out the window by the film's finale.

In 6, the masks dropping in reverse order is significant because it counts down to the showdown in which Bailey plans on staging the scene to make Sam look like a killer, but it also symbolizes Sam's internal conflict, coming to terms with a darkness she is afraid will consume her which she explicitly mentions to her therapist. By the end, she drops her father's mask, completing the through-line and signifying that she's made peace with her past and will not be defined by it. I know it's a simple narrative choice but it's compelling and fully realized which is something most of the other entries don't have :michael:

Got around rewatching Scream 6 for a second time, still such a huge improvement from Scream 5. I have no ill will towards Scream 5, I really enjoyed it and I was so excited to be there opening night but I haven't felt the need to watch it again.

The inclusion of Kirby helps but Melissa did a Dua Lipa acting wise and ate the most recent movie following the criticism she got for Scream 5. Hoping they can keep Hayden around for the future movies, she deserves as many high-profile opportunities as possible.

Apparently, it's not Christmas-themed but moreso taking place during Christmas/winter. I don't think we'll see Ghostface in a Santa hat or anything like that.

So basically just like Scream 6 was during Halloween

unpopular opinion but I don’t want Neve Campbell back for S7

regardless of how ****** up this situation is, and this will probably get downvoted to ****,  i’m lowkey glad she’s gone.

she was a truly terrible, god-awful actress that brought the movies down. 6 was an improvement for sure but her performance in 5 chile… very curious to see how they handle it

I don’t think anyone can feel good about this given the circumstances around her leaving… I mean like you said, this situation is enormously f*cked and sets a scary precedent for others in Hollywood (rightfully) speaking out against genocide.

I never minded her acting personally but I’m not a diehard Scream fan…

Yikes. I thought the first report was clickbait wow.

I bet Jenna won't return and hopefully the rest of the cast turn it down too.

I feel the opposite. Scream 6 was bad. Stupid story. It was obvious who the killer was, the shrine was one of the dumbest things I’ve seen in the franchise. I hated what they did to Kirby :skull: She was amazing in 4, but it was like a different character in 6, and she walked around with a stank face.

The way the characters can get stabbed so much yet are always ok. :bibliahh:

Also found it so silly how easy it was for the killer to get into Gale’s. She is in a high up apartment, I’m sure she has good security too.

Hope they just cancel the whole thing. It doesn’t need to continue.

I’ll have to re-watch it because that’s my first thoughts on it and I didn’t want to see it again.

Whatever you believe, I think we can all agree, no one should be fired or punished for their beliefs.

This is insanity and if this is really the post she got fired over, it's not even offensive in any way like claimed?

I'm slightly biased if this means Neve is the main character again, but it's still a mess…

No Wes no Sidney, no Radio Silence no Sam... this franchise starting to get messy

Scream 7 about to be worse than Scream 3... This is such bad publicity.

nooo this is so ****** up, and the fact its the scream franchise of all doing this

This is unfortunate no matter how you fold it, because it's completely unfair for Melissa to be silenced due to her views, but there's enough zionism in Hollywood clearly and this franchise is so big that Spyglass would be able to recast this and probably reboot the franchise without repercussions in the long run. Assuming this doesn't come for another 12 months, at this point this story could be completely brushed under the rug.

I’m not the biggest fan of Melissa, though she was much better in 6 than in 5, but to drop her for supporting Palestine is so ****** up. It was probably some Jewish high up in either Spyglass or Paramount who wanted her gone and I hate that they have so much power.

I truly hope the rest of the cast backs her up. Lord knows Jenna holds a lot of power and if she decides not to come back, they might reconsider.
