DevilsRollTheDice Posted March 11 Posted March 11 The rebrand was 100% necessary to save her career and it truly worked. However, I think it would be safe for her to go back to her roots a little at this point. The people crave it!

OGHs trying to chime in, in this discussion though like they weren’t just here to throw some stale ass shade 1
Fitzswiftie Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Do people just use Oscar bait for any movie that isn’t capesh!t ip anymore? None of her four main roles (Countess, Ally, Patricia, Harley) can be classed as that. 1
єѕℓαм Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Her career transition is iconic and very few can actually do so let’s not
BnPac Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I think it's cool that she evolved but tbh I don't see anything in her essence of who she was at the beginning left. But cool for her, as long as she's happy, that's all that matters.
Into The Void Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Irs usually the little managers who r the most annoying about what shes doing with her career. Like let her eat pray love. If she wants to do Oscar bait movies fine. If she wants to film a migraine commercial fine. How does it affect your life.

The people crave it! i agree. especially now that people are more accepting of that aesthetic and that side of pop music. but i don’t think she could ever go back to her roots because the fame / monster - born this way haus of gaga and creative direction is totally different than the mess it is today. she and her team are incapable of creating anything in 2024. she needs to get rid of everyone

Solar Posted March 11 Posted March 11 People need to leave her alone on this, classic looks/eras are great too and she will play it cunty when she feels like it (e.g Chromatica Ball). You don’t control HER story
Reginald Posted March 11 Posted March 11 We all miss when Gaga was a cutting-edge baddie. Tbh it's hard watching your faves change in ways you might not appreciate. Most of my favorite bands have been around for multiple decades, and they all have schisms in their fanbases. Day 1 fans always seem to prefer prefer who the artists were, while newer fans like the current releases.
Anita Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) 3 hours ago, Miss Fortune said: Gaga normalised shock value, fashion and pushing boundaries in a very stale time. The same people liking this tweet bullied her incessantly online during ARTPOP, when that was probably some of her most interesting exploration (outside of the music) Her "rebrand" allowed her to stay relevant and maintain her celebrity, when the masses were wanting to drop her completely. Since then, she's continues to win oscars, grammys, get roles in hollywood movies, launch a successful beauty brand and do stadium tours. Which, considering during ARTPOP everyone was dragging her and hoping for her fade into irrelevance, is a huge feat. So, perhaps the worst rebrand in history for YOU but certainly not for her. So you agree it was nothing more than a cheap gimmick to be relevant (as her haters stated back then) and wasn’t really her ‘being true to her identity’ (as SHE stated back then)? You see, it isn’t about her haters/GP being hypocritical for wanting the ‘old Gaga back’ when they abandoned her during ARTPOP, it’s about her switching her brand to stay enslaved to the commercial market to maintain a luxurious lifestyle, contradicting EXACTLY was she stated during her 2014 SXSW keynote interview. She’ll have a very rude awakening during her next pop album first week performance, mark my words. Edited March 11 by Anita 2 1

The made-up narratives... ijbol. Taylor is my #1 streamed artist every single year and of all time. I don't have to hide behind Taylor babes I play her music every single day. Yall should try actually streaming your fav too, maybe if yall didn't collectively abandon her she wouldn't have been inclined to do music part time
Pheromosa Posted March 11 Posted March 11 she would be less dragged if her transition was out of pure desire and not almost desperation it worked out for her which is great but there's no denying she is still a shadow of her former glory 1 1
#Beautiful Posted March 11 Posted March 11 if youve been a stan you know this change was a decade in the making at the very least. however fan frustration is valid. people cope hard with change in general so just like everything else in the world she will always be compared to what she was in the very beginning when people started liking her in contrast to what she is now. i clown on her a lot because she was the first person i ever stanned and to have been a gaga stan since the beginning is... a journey 💀 BUT i do appreciate her growth and i believe that the change was gradual and natural. everything she is doing nowadays is to be expected and the right progression for her career. we're never getting another red one album and people shouldve dealt with that 10 years ago. get over it

Sure, Gaga becoming a big pharma advocate and Lady LinkedIn is something probably no one could've foreseen during her breakthrough years, but she has always shown interest for acting (the MTN music video comes to mind) and Jazz (her BTW Christmas special), so her fully embracing these two career fields really doesn't come out of the blue. 1
Jamie Starr Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) We can praise her for the rebrand and call it "necessary" but I don't remember Joanne, Jazz standards or Chromatica being lauded by anyone outside of atrl. As for her acting roles, that's great and all, but when was the last time you watched House of Gucci or A Star is Born? I respect the genre-bending but she's Gaga, not Bowie. Just give the fans what they want so they can live out their Gaga fantasy and enjoy good Dance-pop again. Edited March 11 by Jamie Starr 1
Keeandga Posted March 11 Posted March 11 A reinvention or a rebrand doesn’t mean you drop/forget about everything you originally preached and based your platform of. 2
Aristede Posted March 11 Posted March 11 People were quickly getting tired of her wearing weird costumes and bizarre behavior, so much that whenever she got onstage and sang her heart out (whether it was The Sound of Music tribute, Million Reasons at the Superbowl, etc.) they always said "Wow. I didn't know she could sing like that." They genuinely believed she was trying to use these gimmicks because she had no talent and needed to distract people from that fact. The impression I get is that she is just an all around music fan. She can appreciate all genres and sounds whether it's pop, country, rock, metal, jazz, rap, R&B, disco...you name it. She just loves all music no matter what form it comes in. Yet some people can only appreciate one particular kind of dance pop and anything outside that does not register for them. That is fine for them, but Gaga loves music too much to restrict herself to just one thing. Plus, she's going to be 38 in a couple weeks. She is not some 20-year-old party girl getting drunk at clubs anymore, so it's only natural for her music to reflect her maturity, changing priorities, and gaining wisdom. 1
