Fleahive Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I don’t think it’s about demand. To me it appears Latin America and especially Asia are head over heels to see any American/European artist as it’s rare in today’s times. If Austin Mahone can be massive in Asia anyone can especially the real megastars. Is it a tour length issue? Stopping in high demand cities in America and UK is exhausting enough I’m sure.
Tropez Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Most are not big outside of their home market, and are too cocky to to small venues.
Bloodflowers. Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Madonna always toured both continents, but has yet to announce it for Celebration Tour (mostly due to her health and leg injury) 2

rigo Posted March 10 Posted March 10 A good example is the Eras Tour going to countries like Chile or Peru. Some organizers shed light on the why not. Some acts require that venues, technology, infrastructure, etc are at the level to replicate what’s being put out on other markets. If the conditions are not present or requirements can’t be fulfilled the act skips the country.
k4rmabutterfly Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Dua does they all did at some point, actually Taylor was the last pop star from her generation to tour Latin America besides Adele (who hates touring) 5 1

Happylittlepunk Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I dont want to say it but suspect it’s because in Latin America and Asia it’s not as profitable as Europe and America. Although imo I think it’s infrastructure issues I also see it in a business sense the cost of traveling and equipment, staffing etc is all a high price and the pop girls are just not make bank as much as the western nations despite the clear demand and large following in those continents. 1
JO1s Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Asia is a lot more long distance flying around than touring North American and Europe for touring. Especially since most American artists have fallen off in japan. Latin America I'm surprised since a lot of mpg have big fan bases there.
Popular Post unclefloprry Posted March 10 Popular Post Posted March 10 Is this thread a set up? bc this is the FIRST time that Taylor touched Latin America, while all her peers did it since 10 years ago. Even Ariana, Demi and Dua toured here before her ijbol 20 1 3
Kodak Energy Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) The return on investment usually isn’t as high because you have to fly and setup a stage to usually just do one or two nights per country. A lot of popgirls (including Taylor) used to just do the biggest markets like Japan and Mexico and maybe Brazil then dip. Taylor has enough demand for eras to do multiple dates in each of these countries now but still all she added was Argentina and Singapore. Edited March 10 by Kodak Energy
newaespa Posted March 10 Posted March 10 not everyone can have a massive demand like Taylor, in Asia maybe it is true that some artistzzzzzzz only cater to certain demographic?

Taylor have an exclusive deal with Singapore hence it is the only stop in SEA (and yes it is a big deal and it got a lot of Prime Minister from other countries, mad)

vuelve88 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Taylor tours Latin America because she wants to celebrate her roots. 1 1
Communion Posted March 10 Posted March 10 The fact that Ari didn't go to SK with SWT despite the DWT stop there feeling like an EVENT: 1
shimind Posted March 10 Posted March 10 1) Asians dont enjoy sexually explicit artists like gaga or beyonce... who basically wear nothing on stage. 2) Poverty. 3) influence of local artists and Bollywood is far more.
PaloSanto Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Infrastructure definitely plays a part but the biggest issue is profit. Both for the artist and the tour promoters. Most promoters wont risk investing when the countries economies are fickle and very few artist are actually 100% guaranteed sold outs. Using Taylor as an example is very shortsighted tho when she was the only main pop act besides Rihanna, Mariah and Adele to never have toured South America up until just 4 months ago
Richie.Valdez Posted March 10 Posted March 10 It’s more about transportation logistics and local touring companies willing to pay what the girls asking since they need to make a profit. In some cases it’s more profitable to sneak them into festivals than solo gigs.
cat1867 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Biggest issue is logistics . For any pop girl with a big stage, they need to ship the stages to south america and to asia which takes around two months. And in addition to the shipping costs, they still have to pay some of the tour staff for that two month break. And then for Asia the stage needs to be shipped/ flown between dates which increases expenses signifcantly while increasing gaps between dates. 1
