family.guy123 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 _ if you can’t figure this one out then you’re probably a swiftie
wsurferwayne Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) there is a massive gap coz she is talented, hardworking ,passionate about serving good music and growing her fanbase!!!! I can see billie/olivia/sza closing the gap to an extent if they keep on serving quality and a bit of versatility music since all 3 of them have the fanbase!!!! Edited March 10 by wsurferwayne
Kristie Kuwa Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Same reason Disney is huge, Harry Potter was huge, etc - she appeals to children and has created a cult that even adults participate in. 6
NEX Posted March 10 Posted March 10 10 hours ago, Communion said: Do you really think the Scooter saga didn't fundamentally change the trajectory of her career? Not in a way it should have. She really exploded around RedTV. There were a bunch of factors that contributed to it. The strength of Folklore and Evermore gained her new fans and brought old ones back. Going into RedTV she captured the public interest with the All Too Well 10 Minute Version. It was on every tv show, all over the social media, I've heard friends who aren't into music talk about it. People got invested in her personal life and story. This has nothing to do with re-recordings themselves, because that's brand new music and her marketing strategy that drew people in and kept them there, let them discover more of her music. So the biggest factors for her current success imo are Folklore and ATW10. She just snowballed from there and the frequent releases are just keeping the public's attention (for now).
Feanor Posted March 10 Posted March 10 This thread kinda illuminates why. Many pop girls have smash hits, but if you want to be on Taylor's level, you'll have to get the public stream your deep cuts too. Taylor is the perfect mix of singles & albums artist, and that combo is pretty dominating. 5

As a teacher in Germany... I find it so odd... her music is always in the charts... but I rarely come across a 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th grader who listens to her. It's even worse with boys. In my 10th grade there is a (gay) boy who is stanning for Doja Cat. Teenagers predominantly listen to German local acts. That's my observation from being in contact with around 700 kids every Monday-Friday. I remember that a few years ago, I saw some teenage girls wearing this Billie Eilish sweater and I also saw them in Ariana merch. Maybe Taylor mania is a thing in the bigger cities here. (I live in a 35k town). I have a hard life as a 48 y.o. male teacher who knows all the pop girls... but my students do not know anyone. It is so hard to play the game "Who is it" I always have to resort to the smallest common denominator like Merkel... who has a name recognition of max 10% among my students. From my experience, I would say that Taylor has a name recognition of 5-6% at my school. The legends from my generation like Mariah / Madonna / Whitney / Céline and Janet are at 0%. Even Britney is at 0%. It is what it is. Maybe my experience is only anecdotal and in reality everyone knows who Taylor Swift is... BTW: Taylor is my 59th most streamed artist since September of 2011. (#21 among female artists).
Brikenbur Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Because Taylor treats her career as a legitimate Corporation. That’s all.
DoubleRainbow! Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Is that something to pe proud of? She never moves a finger and her music gets streamed some other females do everything they can to sell their music and it never pays off 1
chiliam Posted March 10 Posted March 10 15 hours ago, Blue. said: Yes, because her multiple sold out stadiums in South America and Asia were full of rich white girls of course. I was at Singapore attend night 5 out of 6 show out stadium shows. And on night 6, i came back to stand outside the stadium and oh my my, it was a massive crowd like 30k people just stand outside to enjoy the show. Inside there was 62k people screaming all the lyrics also. And guess what 99.99% are Asian. And the age group is wide from kids to adults in their 30s like me haha.

Self-confidence alone cannot heal heartbreak or betrayal, and having songs that effectively put feelings into words are an excellent vessel for coming to terms with a situation. 3 hours ago, Brikenbur said: Because Taylor treats her career as a legitimate Corporation. liam13 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 OTHs be like “she’s this and that” when their faves are also “this” and/or “that” OT: she is the music industry.
velocity Posted March 10 Posted March 10 not OTHs acting like their basic pop favs making bops about riding d*ck are some sort of musical, lyrical geniuses compared to taylor 1 2
Raphy23 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 GP is obsessed with Taylor. She’s kinda like what Ed was in 2017-2020.
byzantium Posted March 10 Posted March 10 9 hours ago, lonnie said: Yeah you're right Self- Titled, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, Folklore and evermore are very distinctive and unlike each other as eras. Taylor the first and only person to capture a different sound with new groundbreaking imagery with a new era Yes, glad you are finally seeing that.
Don Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Because she has fans in all generations, from little kids to people over 40

Taylor streams and sales are insane. I know many people will say it’s because she has a large fanbase and is a talented songwriter. But couldn’t other fan bases say the same thing for their own faves? Beyonce, Gaga, Ariana, Rihanna, Britney, Nicki etc. imo don’t come across as people who have small fanbases and that’s why they can’t pull numbers like her or at least something similiar Like at least 500k + debut week albums. Is Taylor just more ambitious and has a better team? Does Taylor cater to her fanbase more? I’m not a swiftie but I feel like there should be a logical explanation for this. Oh because the other girls are more conscious and aware of their carbon emission I guess!!! Oh you are referring to charts and not carbon emissions lol
Donald Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I think it just proves that America has zero taste when it comes to music
HardBambi Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Her music is cute, easy, commercial, relatable, honest, and with this recipe she’s by far the queen Maybe Ari comes close but no one else
Mezter Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) White gworls see themselves in her more than any other artist lol Edited March 12 by Mezter
ttsmu Posted March 12 Posted March 12 The only massive gap that I see between Taylor and other MPG is her vocal range and stage presence. Sales and charts doesn't matter to me. 2 2 3
