AMIT Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) Finally this mess is OUT. At least it did not make the Top 10, I guess (though Iroha definitely deserved). Edited April 12 by AMIT

AMIT Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Just now, Curaga said: I don't see you there either, bestie! I gave higher scores to the Muzai singles than the Sunny singles. My highest sunny score (7) just got out, so... ! I give credit where its due (though my score for this last one was a biT too high in hindsight) and she's still my fave so. We need Pit of Death OUT next.
Suilen Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 Kyogenshou / 虚言症 Score: 7,95 Album: Shouso Strip Big Sheensters: Invisibility (11), Meloetta Carey, Kyle-x, confide in me (10) Little NishiNOsters: fauxtography (2) The first taste of Shouso Strip that was apparently released as a promo single, although now that I think of it, I should probably have researched the circumstances of its release more closely, but AMIT was also there, and he never doubted its inclusion, so. I think its release happened much later, during the digital era? Well, no one was exactly complaining, and the song almost made it to the top 10, so. According to Sheena, the song might be the first one she wrote seriously, and it's based on a story she read in a newspaper. It was about a girl (potential trigger warnings) who wanted to commit suicide and lay on the rail tracks. Thus, the song is devoted to that girl, and even in the lyrics she says: "It's also thanks to you that I'm able to sing.” The original title of the song was 'Daijoubu' (I hope I don't have to translate what that means), but Sheena changed it to 'Pathological Lying' as at first she believed that the story was fabricated. Still, the title is a bit of a misnomer as the song is about trying to uplift that girl (or her spirit, not sure about her faith) and not liars. AMIT makes an unflattering comparison: "a great intro song for the album, very 90s shounen anime opening, I love it!” Subomie seems a bit bummed out by its inclusion: "idk, it's Shoso Strip so it's obviously very good but I can't help but wish for... maybe any other album track from that release?” 2
Ewan Chaos Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Wow I'm mostly winning with how 15-11 panned out, no 10s gone and I'm not too shook at anything left Even my 5.5, that's not a terrible score! That song was just unfortunately too surrounded by SERVES that it felt... not as good
Invisibility Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Kyogenshou out It was my first ever Shiina song so it has that special place in my heart AN OPENER! 3
AMIT Posted April 12 Posted April 12 While it makes for a great intro for Shouso Strip and I still love it, this song kinda fell on my ranking with time, surprisingly. I remember I didn't really enjoy its following song on the album because I thought it was too different from Kyogenshou and too weird itself but now I absolute stan Yokushitsu and Kyogenshou is just... cute.

Suilen Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 And the one to miss the top 10 is... Gate of Living / 鶏と蛇と豚 Score: 7,97 Album: Sandokushi Big Sheensters: Curaga (11), madonnas, Kyle-x, Invisibility (10) Little NishiNOsters: fauxtography (2) Who could've imagined that a Sandokushi single would almost make it to the top 10? Not me, that's for sure, although the song has always been edging it, and at some point even broke through. I won't devote a separate paragraph to Sandokushi, so I'll just say all that I have to say here. The song itself is great, and even as someone who barely watches music videos and cares about their iconicness or potential enhancement of a song, I have to admit that without the video GoL wouldn't have the same impact. It feels like it was specifically crafted for the video, which is totally fine, and when I listen to it on Spotify or something, it still hits. It took me some time to understand that the song was in English, but she might as well be singing in Sanskrit, like, the production is that good. Unfortunately, the song doesn't exist in a vacuum and happens to open Sandokushi, Sheena's most reviled album. I'll say this – the concept of three poisons is pretty interesting and worth exploring. Unlike Sunny, though, I feel like only a handful of songs are true to it (the ones that were released in 2019, to be blunt). Certainly, there's something mythological and sinful going in No verão, as noites / God, nor Buddha, but I'm not sure if the concept was ready then. My hypothesis is that she remembered that she had a song about Buddha in like 2018, decided to look into some Buddhist concepts, found the poisons and moved in that direction to avoid making the jingles seem completely shameless. Well, to echo AMIT, I wish GoL opened a better-though-out album. Fingers crossed for that cat album. P.S. I tried listening to the album the other day (unlike AMIT, I do trust Curaga's taste, even if we may disagree on some things), and a couple of songs seemed slightly better to me. Still, they felt out of place, and the men can't hold a handle to the ones on Sanmon Gossip. Anyway, feel free to share your frustration over Sandokushi outlasting Muzai Moratorium and/or Sunny. Curaga is bald: "YES!! She really brought the drama and the grandeur on this song, omg — the chicken, the snake, AND the pig! 1:42 is sooooo magical; I love the flittering woodwinds and the tinkling bells. "Irreplaceable, no less!” OK, this is my 11 because my wig flew listening to this again even though I've probably heard it 20+ times asjkdflaithigajl" AMIT can admit the song's strengths: "a good intro, wish it introduced an actual good project!” 3
Curaga Posted April 12 Posted April 12 SCREAM, not me missing the top 10 like that asdflasdfpoiajsrgklasm (#flop) and @AMIT's wildest dreams of my humiliation coming true 1
AMIT Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Muzai Moratorium not having a single song in the Top 10 is so criminal that not having Sandokushi there either and seeing Curaga lose is almost bittersweet. But still, good riddance! 1

AMIT Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I'm shocked those Sanmon Gossip 'singles' made the Top 10 and outlasted all of Muzai's tbf. I guess this means I should give that album a listen again since I haven't done so in forever oop.
