Rosenda Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) Dutasteride or Finasteride. Minoxidil wont stop hair loss Dutasteride is more effective btw. It will affect sperm quantity tho but nothing serious Edited March 4 by Rosenda
Tudors Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Try a wig like Madonnas on the celebration tour Or even a blanket with a hole cut out. Also like Madonna on the celebration tour. I hope this helps 😁
Ichinaru19 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 If you are losing hair you should try finasteride first IMO. Talk to your dermatologist about it, but finasteride is medication that actually slows/stops your hair loss while minox is meant more for speeding up hair growth. If finasteride fixes the issue you don't have to double up on minox
1DES Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I went thru this episode after the pandemic. I just changed my shampoo which was affecting my hair to thin out. Doctor said my derm doctor said my hair looked fine but everytime I would shower, I felt it was an alarming amount of hair falling out. So I changed my shampoo, they gave me ketoconazole shampoo, and I started using rosemary oil.
Goaty Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Finasteride is more for hairline preservation while minoxidil is for apex scalp hair restoration. From what you’ve posted so far finasteride is probably the better option, but it’s really something that should come from a dermatologist. Neither drug has a particularly concerning side effect profile, especially finasteride, despite what you might read on the internet.
Goaty Posted March 5 Posted March 5 The biggest concern people have about finasteride is its effects on libido, but at the dose used for hair loss (1 mg) it’s a non-issue and its prevalence among those who take it is vastly misinterpreted and misrepresented.
LittleStarmen Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Get a transplant at 29 and it will be all back start saving now ive one its been 10 years and it works

This is a lie finasteride ruins your libido

Goaty Posted March 5 Posted March 5 (edited) Quote A large prospective study in as many as 17,313 patients was conducted to look into the effects of finasteride and other covariates on sexual dysfunction as part of the analysis of The Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial (PCPT).[11] Sexual dysfunction was assessed in the 17,313 PCPT participants who received finasteride 5 mg during a 7-year period. Finasteride increased sexual dysfunction only slightly even at 5 mg dosage (which is much higher than the 1 mg administered in pattern hair loss) and its impact diminished over time. The authors concluded that the effect of finasteride on sexual functioning is minimal for most men and should not impact the decision to prescribe or take finasteride. A recent review of the available literature too arrived at similar conclusions. For those curious - here is an excellent article that discusses this in more detail https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3481923/ Edited March 5 by Goaty
SoldierofLove Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I feel like I take my thick hair for granted... I even ask the barber to thin it out on a monthly basis. What can one do to prevent hair loss? I need real testimony from ATRL gays. @CottageHore Good luck, sister. Keep us posted on what works.

Do I need to be prescribed minoxidil and finasteride or did you get them elsewhere without prescription? Do you think a consultation with a dermatologist would be worth the money? You definitely need to consult a doctor for finasteride... Now I didn't because I'm broke but you should! 22 hours ago, Aristotle said: From what I have heard minoxidil works for some months then your hair starts falling back so you essentially will need to use finasteride for a longer effect when this starts happening. No...... it makes your hair fall faster the first few months (a shed) but then it starts growing and getting stronger. It only stops working when you stop using it.
Jimmy. Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Yea, finasteride. I was taking 1mg per day for 18 months but I’ve dropped down to 0.5mg per day the last couple of weeks. Hoping the slight gains I’ve made don’t fade now.
