nobody outside of gays stuck in the 2013 care about Miley Cyrus. She had been consistently flopping for ten (10!) years, got 1 smash and returned to her regularly scheduled flopping.

Like at some point y’all gotta real with yourselves and stop living in your own little made-up world

ATRLers live in a bubble :deadbanana4: like if Miley's so big why isn't she getting top 10 hits left and right and can't even score a #1 album. One big hit doesn't make you big or bigger than others.

Can't wait to see Doctor's debut numbers on Spotify, I'm sure it will debut at #1 with bigger numbers than yes, and?

I hate that we’re having these stupid comparison to begin with cause both of these ladies are superbly talented (not everybody has that) and doing their own thing.

Yes and is the first single off a studio album. Doctor is ft. Pharrell Williams and is a single off Pharrell’s album after 4 other singles Miley herself released. Not comparable.

Let's! Hasn't Miley released like 4 singles after Flowers and all of them bombed to the pits of HELL?

The excuses already, I thought we should get current and accept that Miley is the biggest ex-act now.

3 singles and Used to Be Young smashed on radio as it was meant to

Nothing was going to be bigger than omega smash Flowers. Especially not Yes And, first single off Eternal Sunshine(an obvious Endless Summer Vacation reference) released by Ariana Grande.

Also Ariana has more streaming hits but I think Flowers and PITUSA will outlast Ariana's entire solo catalogue (as evidenced by their recurrent streams) :celestial5:

Santa Tell Me will outlast both of these songs :bibliahh:

Sure, but no one expected them to flop this hard either.

She literally went from being #1 everywhere with the lead... to not even seeing the Top 10 in any country with the two following singles. :skull:

Then they re-released the album with a brand new song... that only went Top 10 in like 3 countries for only one week. :skull:

Not at y'all putting Ariana's streaming stats like as if she didn't benefit from endless payola & Scooter.

Notice how the moment Scooter isn't involved, Ariana flops into oblivion? PS. The fact that yes and still bombed even with the 4 week TTH residency at #1

I'd say yes, but I can definitely see an argument being made for Miley Cyrus. She's been having hits since the mid-2000s and it's going to take us 5 to 10 more years to see if Ari's hits are as everlasting as Party in the USA, or Wrecking Ball, maybe even Flowers. Also, this narrative of Flowers being Miley's first hit since 2013 is sort of ridiculous. I remember Malibu and Midnight Sky being decent-sized hits for their times.

Anyway, it's honestly between them. Otherwise, the margin between them and Demi/Selena is amusing.

Britney had the biggest peak but she will be outlasted now that she's retired. She's more infamous now.

And like think about it. Why was "yes and" still #1 on TTH when it was #86 on Spotify US? Even radio payola couldn't save it.

This was after her reputation got destroyed btw. Imagine how much payola she was getting between 2014-2020

Make them drop a single on the same day and you know damn well who'll win. Case closed

Sure, because we all saw how massive Demi Lovato (since 2018), Tori Kelly and Carly Rae Jepsen got since Scooter started working for them.

Also, if there's one thing we learned from Camila or to a lesser extent Dua, it's that no amount of payola can get you a hit if people aren't here for you and don't like your output.

She's currently the 6th most streamed artist ever on Spotify and has amassed a total of 41 billion streams on the platform, lmao. You know what ? If it helps you sleep at night and feel better about your flop faves to attribute such a massive success to payola, you do you !

But that makes me wonder, what about the other artists in the Top 10 ? Taylor, Drake, Justin, Bad Bunny, Abel, Ed, Post Malone, BTS ? Do you also think their success is due to payola or is it just Ariana because you hate her and can't comprehend why she managed to find success ?

is the rest of Ariana's discography that is doubling Miley's discography streams (incl. Flowers and Hannah Montana!) #1 on TTH too right now? :gaycat2:
