Why are some of you complaining about how much money that billionaire paid? That money is in better hands with Rihanna anyway.

I see someone sitting in a chair. The most effort exerted is trying to hit the notes (and failing). Where is the performance ability? Feels and vibes?

?? You asked me to prove she can captivate an audience with just herself and a guitar. I did just that.

but here’s a video of her standing if that makes you feel better:

and lastly, here is a spectacle of a performance:

Baby,Taylor is in the BOTTOM of the list when it comes to performers. Rihanna is right there because she’s lazy not because she can’t do it. Taylor in the other hand tries but fails miserably. It’s even worse. A Billion tour won’t change the fact that she is just bad.

Taylor hasn’t been the “bad” performer yall want her to be since 2009. She just doesn’t have rhythm. That’s literally it. “Choreography” isn’t the only aspect of performing. Taylor could sit at a piano and perform circles around pretty much any other mainstream pop star that isn’t Beyonce or Gaga.

I see this billion dollar tour made yall gain lot of confidence. LOL. What about Pink? What about Doja Cat? What about Tinashe ? What about Xtina? I can still go on and on. Please stop the delusion, touch some grass and try to have a critical spirit as most of the stan bases in here. You’re the ONLY ones that are out of touch.

Babe this has nothing to do with The Eras Tour. Taylor has been a good performer on her tours since 2011 with the Speak Now Tour. Y’all cling to the few award shows where she’s off key and ignore countless videos of her performing on key while playing instruments for stadiums of fans. It has nothing to do with the tour gross and everything to do with her talent and stage presence.

She doesn’t have a fanbase because she’s successful, she’s successful because she cultivated a fan base. Those fans showed up and stayed this long g or a reason and yall ignore us when we try to explain that to you. I’ve been here 15+ years, the Eras Tour is just the cherry on top of a 20 layer cake at this point. (And if anything it’s her least creative tour, she barely has any new arrangements or mashups like in past tours. But that’s beside the point.)

Tinashe and Doja are not major pop stars. P!nk makes bad music idc about her, and Xtina has not been a major pop star since like 2006, the year Taylor debuted in country music.

but I’ll bite:

Tinashe is an exceptional dancer but she also can’t really hold a tune live. Xtina’s vocal cords are damaged beyond repair. P!nk is a one trick pony.

Taylor doesn’t have to rely on choreography like Tinashe or vocals like Christina to put on a great show for her fans.

Sorry but even a Rihanna that recently gave birth is a better performer than Taylor. I'm not impressed by Taylor playing an instrument, like any regular person at a music class does that and I don't gag for them. Rihanna gives us charisma, face, stage presence, rhythm, swag even if she's not the most energetic or best dancer, she's a vibe like only Rihanna.

My point is "she can captivate a stadium" and "people go see her" are not defenses. Yeah, her fans have notoriously low standards and connect to her precisely because she's mediocre, we get it. Rihanna has served onstage. Has Taylor? Ever?

All those artists are headlining festivals or tours. So yes, they are relevant. Just because they're not an "it artist," anymore does not mean they're not A-listers. I would add Miley and Madonna to the list too.

I don’t care about your point because you are notoriously biased against Taylor. You asked me to prove she can captivate a stadium with just a guitar and I did. That’s it. You didn’t even watch the performances I sent you because you replied to the first pair (a collective 13 minutes of video) like 2 minutes later claiming she was off key, something you would not be able to deduce without watching. Taylor isn’t off key as much as yall think she is, it’s usually just award show performances of Shake It Off.

Anyway, I’m not really here to force you to enjoy the type of performances she puts on. If you don’t like them that’s fine, I literally could not care less nor do you -need- to change your mind. You’re entitled to your opinion and no one is trying to strip that from you.

But the fact of the matter here is Taylor is the better performer than Rihanna in 2023-2024, and truthfully I’d say she has been better for the last decade.

Let’s agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Im not really about to go toe to toe with yall here. I’m not claiming these people aren’t relevant. But Beyonce and Gaga are the only mainstream pop stars who undoubtedly will perform “better” than Taylor Swift in 2024. Anyone else is either not a major pop star (Tinashe, Doja), or are way too inconsistent these days (Madonna, Xtina).

If you don't care about opposing viewpoints, just praise Dear Leader and leave it at that without initiating comparisons. I did unfortunately subject myself to her off key bleating in the first video and that was enough to get what you consider a high quality performance. Which again brings me to my point. Rihanna at her best (as in not after 8 years of inactivity) was on another level to Taylor who has never been good. Subjective opinions like "her fans love her" or "she captivates a stadium" are pointless and biased since we saw who her fans are in that viral mental breakdown gif.

See you around.

Alright, non objective opinions: Taylor Swift can and will play multiple different instruments over the course of her live performances. A factual musical talent that Rihanna lacks.

Ergo, Taylor is a better performer than Rihanna.

They’re both EXTREMELY subpar vocalists, the only thing Rih has “over” Taylor is natural rhythm (not that she’s even a great dancer but Taylor has two left feet so). That natural rhythm is not enough to outweigh the feat of being a live instrumentalist.

Rihanna could never sit at a piano or pick up a guitar (acoustic, electric, or 12 string), banjo, ukulele, or fiddle, and put on a show while singing live vocals. Taylor factually has: these are objective truths. Whether you -enjoy- her tone or not is irrelevant, Taylor is objectively putting more effort into a performance that objectively requires more talent/skill/craft/dedication.

So yeah, I’ll see -you- around. :michael:

Oh shifting the goalposts from stage presence and performing ability to how many instruments one can play while sitting down? What does that have to do with entertaining an audience and who ever claimed Rihanna is a musician at all? Sure, Taylor is a better musician but still not a better performer or entertainer, which, you know, is the subject of this thread. Madonna, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson the most renowned entertainers of all time don't play instruments. I guess we got to the great gowns, beautiful gowns part of the argument. What next, who wrote the most songs? Oof the desperation.

The subject is Taylor being a better performer, and someone who is able to perform live AND play instruments, even with a subpar voice, is always going to trump someone that is a subpar singer, a subpar dancer, and has no additional skills, instruments, or talents contributing to the live performance. Period point blank.

PS Your “sitting down” retorts are remedial, Taylor plays instruments standing and I submitted proof of that, there’s hundreds more videos out there but I’m ending this conversation now :lakitu:

But that's the thing. At her best, Rihanna was not a subpar vocalist or performer, she was great. Look up performances from Unapologetic and Anti eras especially. Taylor has never even been adequate, let alone good.

As for playing instruments, that's a deflection. I haven't read anyone ever say x is such a good performer, they sat on their ass and played the ukelele (or walked around and played the ukelele since that seems to be your problem). Musicianship has nothing to do with performance ability.

See ya!

She's so clearly over her music career :rip:

At least she gave us some of the best smashers this century.

Lemme just say, Taylor is not a naturally gifted performer but she has enough work ethic to pull of an amazing show and musical talent to back it up for down tempo songs. Rih could literally never.

This. Neither is a great performer but at least Taylor puts in the effort and her acoustic section alone stomps Rih.

What is it with some of you always comparing one singer with another singer? Leave Rihanna and Taylor Swift doing their things!

Taylor is making different music than Rihanna and she does the it too.

So what is wrong. Taylor has her fans and Rihanna has her fans either. Always those comparisons "who's better", "who can fill a stadium/arena". You can't compare two things who are totally different to each other and now just leave it.

This is a thread about Rihannas Performance in India and that's good. I just love her Performance, great dances and her singing she's amazing and always will be.

But those off-topic stuffs are weird and unnecessary! :michael:

that billionaire tycoon is an idiot for hiring her. Should have asked for beyonce again ( she performed at his daughter's wedding in 2018)

clearly Bey wasn't available, she's booked and busy this week. She was prob their 1st option

do we know how much they paid her?

I don’t have a dog in this fight but calling Taylor a top 3 live performer, even among major acts, is wild :deadbanana4:. You’re calling Madonna and Xtina inconsistent, but is Taylor necessarily known for her consistency live?

P!nk is the obvious #3. She can sing, she can do her acrobatics, she can do both simultaneously, and she can hit choreo.

Even if she’s a “one trick pony” to you, she’s certainly one of the most consistent performers whether she’s living her Simone Biles fantasy or not.
