I'm the biggest self titled fan, I have a signed copy from 2014 on my wall. But All Born Screaming is just as all killer no filler (if not more), the production is thicker and stronger, the hard parts go harder, and the album experience is so cinematic, it's like "St Vincent : the movie- IMAX experience" lol. So to me it (at least) has to barely edge out self titled for the win. 🏆 I would put MSSDCTN on masterpiece too and voila!

Lemon Posted May 6 Posted May 6 4 minutes ago, John Slayne said: her saying it in like 4 different interviews I have seen was jarring so yes it is related to this album era. what exactly is your point? Please... You have highlighted it because it was about Taylor ( I, for one, am not aware of it ). You do you though.
Lemon Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Just now, John Slayne said: i mean it doesn't take a genius to figure out that her talking about her dislike of 'artists' who write overpersonalised music that you have to research their dating history to understand was about Taylor... but if you're too slow to get that then that's on you lol ? Confirmation bias at display and it is also being used by you to take a dig at an artist you dislike. Definitely not genius move nor line of thinking.
Lemon Posted May 6 Posted May 6 4 minutes ago, John Slayne said: ok who else do you think she could've been talking about? please enlighten us or how does Taylor not fit that description? I don't know nor do I care to interpret anyone's words like that. Moreover, I don't interpret music based on artist's personal life and to think it is necessary for us to actually know the real source behind the songs is . However, does only Taylor fit that description? Obviously not, but you chose Taylor for a dig. I am not sure why you are having problem with accepting that you are being openly negatively biased towards someone.
Lemon Posted May 6 Posted May 6 3 minutes ago, John Slayne said: that was exactly Annie's point though, but you would know this if you actually listened to her interviews instead of fishing for 'drags' on atrl dot com I was listening to her new music and was busy interpreting her new songs for myself among other things. The one "fishing for drags" is you because you chose her words to be centered solely about Taylor ( only she fits given description, right? ).
Lemon Posted May 6 Posted May 6 (edited) 16 minutes ago, John Slayne said: also why are you trying to argue with me about what Annie did or did not say in her interviews if you did not even listen to them in the first place? I am not arguing anything actually, just stating the obvious. Moreover, you brought to light what she has said anyway, and it would be interesting to know how or why only Taylor fits given description. Surely there are other popular and mainstream artists who do the same. Another sensible question would be why you would be interpreting Taylor's collaborator's words as a dig at Taylor. I've changed my mind. This gets better with every listen. The punches are there! I'm glad I tried it again. Then I immediately had to listen again and again… Every song is magic. 2
makeawish Posted May 9 Posted May 9 i'm coming around to the run up to/including violent times and then the title track, i still think it sags a bit in the second half (not keen on st reggae tbh) but the softer material in the first half works well for me now and when it goes hard it's so good
