poll Who is the better songwriter: Mariah or Taylor?

This is not a thread about commercial success. This is specifically about songwriting. 
 

Who is more poetic? Who uses clever wordplay? Who uses sophisticated language for their lyrics. Discuss.  
 

for me personally Mariah by a longshot and it’s not even close although I do casually listen to Taylor’s bops, I find them juvenile in comparison to the songbird supreme

They're both great songwriters, but I'm preferable to Taylor's detailed autobiographical songwriting.

Taylor's main problem is that she's more focused on her lyricism and not her melodies while Mariah had good lyrics and great melodies and hooks. 

 

Taylor is limited to what notes she can do because she doesn't have big vocal abilities whereas Mariah can practically do any melody in any register, which gives her more possibilities. Mariah's lyrics also incorporate much less details which makes them better.

I don't know how you can listen to her catalog and this be your takeaway.  Melody has always been one of her strengths, even as far back as Fearless
