burninredhot Posted February 23 Posted February 23 So this has just been my observation over the months I have spent surfing around on ATRL, Selena gets more hate on here than most other pop girls. It's not like she's super problematic (except for wildin on tiktok comments sometimes), she makes cute bops that most mainstream music enthusiasts can enjoy, she's not really overexposed in pop culture terms and she has a very likable celebrity persona. So why is almost every thread about Miss Gomez met with so much negativity and bitterness? PS: This is a serious question and not some thread made in her defense. 1 1 1 1

And she also talks badly about herself and that helps with the narrative unfortunately. Like girl… funny and ironic thing is that she’s extremely successful as whole, has a successful company, is becoming a billionaire, social media darling, has a handful number of hits songs (!!!) and is on her 2nd successful TV show. Rev8 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 There was hate because she was deemed talentless - but lots of fans acknowledged her Acting Skills, so it isn't that bad the other thing was that she hadn't proven herself now, she is more hated on because of a lot of the Controversies she had gotten herself into the Black Lives drama, Kidney transplant drama, Justin Bieber(+Hailey) drama etc.. At least when there is a new topic about her, that's the reason. Recently, she has been releasing some stuff that ATRL doesn't really vibe to too, so there is new source for attacks (whereas, she might've not been the most "talented" or "quality" act before, but her songs were still liked))

The hate on here usually is propotional to the amount of success the pop girl gets but I don't see that being the case with Selena

It’s happened with Taylor, Jennifer Lawrence, Selena…it’s real weird behavior.
