It was that moment when entire fandomes came together during and after Mariah's Xmas craze, who then imitated me and Mariah Carey with negative intentions. Someone they outrank in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back. It kinda broke my heart when I saw it and I still can't get it out of my head because it wasn't in a movie. It was real life. And this instinct to humiliate when it's modeled by someone powerful. It filters down into everbody's life because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. When the powerful use their position to bully others - we all lose.

Me Against The Hits Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I'm genuinely shocked that Ariana is flopping this era even with a Mariah remix What happened to her power? Spoiler She needs to go back to her Prositutions sound era and release more the weeeknd songs cuz this era aint it

Shaner69 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Why are people saying it's fixed? I think everyone just said that to force people to give it another stream. It still sounds the same to me. Those numbers are better then they should be. I'm sorry but yes and? NO.
spiritboy Posted February 18 Posted February 18 (edited) It’s not bad but genre of the song and her relationship with Ethan might be the causes of why she’s this is underperforming. Edited February 18 by spiritboy
BnPac Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Tragic remix, I am not even sure that was Maria's natural voice.

If she had come with a banger that just ignored her current situationship, she would be smashing now Edited February 18 by Dephira
cat1867 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Yeah, people simply didn't like the song . Mariah, legend that she is , simply isn't a very revelant artist outside Christmas. A remix with her won't risk an underpeforming song. 1
Starkboy Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Day 2 #123 (-91) USA | 399,079 (-328k) OUT (-146) Global 4

They totally fcked up the whole hype. a new song with good mixing would have been a chance but this is just bad. Ariana will get a nice push with the sales so maybe she will come back to top 15 but that’s it.

She’s 35 years into her career - she’s not going to be pulling Taylor Swift numbers. To say she isn’t relevant is insane especially when her recurrent streams obliterate her peers.
suburbannature Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Mind you this is still as much as JLo’s entire new album and as much as Xtina’s entire lead credit CATALOGUE so keep it cute, certain bases 1 2 5

I am not trying to shade the great Mariah Carey .She's a legend with a great back catalogue and Caution is great. But like you said she is 35 years into her career. Her own songs haven't charted well since 2014. Mariah can't rescue a song like yes and. Similarly, Madonna's remixes with Beyonce and Dua Lipa didn't do much. Having a remix with a legend doesn't automatically generate streams for songs.
