i think donating publicly is better because it brings more attention and more people can join and raise more money. of course it is also a good PR, but if she is doing good think, she deserves it

It actually used to be $15,000. It was raised to the current limit of $50,000 specifically because Taylor Swift tried to donate that much to a girl with leukemia, and had to split it into installments just like she did here.

 

I hope what she has given today helps the family get everything they need in the wake of what happened.

This is prime example why no one takes Taylor’s detractors seriously. They are almost never constructive when it comes to criticising her, her traits, her actions. It’s always forced negative notion and opinions.
