Shakira - 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran'

I thought she had this album ready in 2022, why did she take so long to release it lol, unless she just worked on felicito and released it straight away and then went and made the album which is so weird, ruined her album rollout, also she used to make much better music and wrote songs alone….motherhood and pique kinda killed the artist in her a shame

I personally believe she didn't want to release the album while still being a resident of Spain both due to tax reasons (after all her legal troubles, can't blame her) and to avoid the inevitable press that'd follow. Yeah, she killed the hype for an album, but I think the new songs and the previous singles are a good sign of her future, musically speaking.

Also, at this point, caring about charts is dumb unless you want her making urban/reggaeton music only. The problem is that neither her nor her team seems to make up their minds on what they want.

She killed the hype, the album should have been released last year.
the new songs are just not as big hits as 53, TQG and Te Felicito

Im not surprised about the album performance, it should have been released last year after the session. :coffee2: Even the brazilian insider said that the original release date was last march, and she left the ed sheeran and korean Girl group feat out. :rip:

i'd prefer one of those songs instead that "Tiesto Remix":rip:

Shakira has always been a slow gainer with her songs, she doesn't have great first day streams in general. However, while she is a slow gainer, I do think the quality of this album is  meh. TQG is such a legitimate bop. Punteria is interesting, and has potential, but I just feel like it's such an easy listening song that leaves no definite impressions. I question some of the production decisions on this song that makes the song cheesier than it has to be, just like the rest of the album. I also think Cardi is the stand out on the track, her verses are better and the fact that she is singing on the song seems to bring the attention to her, although it could very well be the first time Shakira is as sexual in her lyrics, which I truly appreciate. Personally, I really disliked the wig she (Shakira) had on in the music video.

All the Bizzarap songs can be thrown in the garbage. I find his songs are tacky and outdated. La Fuerte is so bad, I cannot. Even the 53 session to me was particularly uninteresting in terms of production. Her vocal performance, her energy and her lyrics however brought everything together.

I don't know what Pique made her think about her voice and her talent in the years they were together, but she seems to be struggling with her self-confidence, according to the Apple Music interview. I hate him for that.

I feel like the 2014 album was a better encapsulation of Shakira with modern production, although the songs were also cheesy because she was writing about the loser she was with. You Don't Care About Me not being a single really bombed that album.

Either way, if anything, this album continues to show that Shakira is a star with so much charisma and talent. However, somehow, in my opinion, it always seem she chooses the wrong approach to her tracks. She needs a better A&R.

So I'm confused, im not like chart obsessed or whatever, but you guys are going crazy throwing all this shade already based on 1 day does 1 day determine debut? Serious question

F*ck the charts. This is one of the most streamed female album of 2024 already. Who cares.

I am excited for her performance on Jimmy Fallon.

At least the album is good and overall it's better than El Dorado

It's also getting good reviews

I'm also glad it doesn't have too much reggaeton, except for Copa Vacia

It's a serious question because this is a chart forum, but I don't follow all that. Will this be pulling this is me numbers based on those day 1 numbers? What's needed for top 15 debut, etc.

Saw she got a plaque for 7x multi platinum pre save sales, but I see everybody happy throwing shade cause it's not doing renaissance numbers. I mean is a Latin album from an artist that's still active 30+ years

for top 15 she needs to at least match el dorado, top 20 like 25k, top 30 20k its very close like jlo was a bit unlucky to debut at 38 but shakira is doing much better in streams although we dont know about physicals and lets be honest the covers arent much incentive for people to buy, it will probably do better than this is me now based on the streams but its not guaranteed

This is from Chartmasters & units based on the pre-realeased tracks. So it's as real as any of his stats.

The fact that she's still relevant 30 years in, draws a lot of haters. Other than that, it's an era similar to ED, lots of pre-released singles, huge streaming numbers, some smashes, some flops, slow start of album release week, messy release on top of it...The only difference is this time we have vinyls, so we don't know yet how many physical albums she'll sell, hopefully more than last era.

I listened once and haven't listened to the whole thing again because this isn't really an album, its a playlist.

I know this sounds mean, but low-key hope it flops so she will stop being encouraged to make cheap and tacky music. If you are going flop at least do it with some artistic integrity.
