For those claiming that Beyoncé doing this isn't going to impact black artists in Country music – we're already seeing impact.

The amount of "I dont listen to Country at all, but this is great"-posts regarding THE just show how impactful this all is :jonnycat:

How can people say this not country with a straight face and then say something like 10,000 Hours which is a pure pop song is country :toofunny3:

Beyoncé has the chance to make history with this country album and change things in the music industry cause this is literal racism

imagine if she finally wins AOTY with this country record :chick2: it would be like a double win

Weirdo behavior :rip: the minimum wage employee answering the phone at the radio station has 0 influence on their playlist.

It would be great if the songs organic success so far actually persuades a lot of country stations to play it (even more if they’ll  continue to play country songs by other black artists who are not as well known as Beyoncé)

i think the song is a grower for me despite me not really liking Country . also did not know until i saw this thread that Dolly Parton had a #1 Country song with a song written by Donna Summer.

Texas Hold 'Em needs to smash on streaming so these incestuous hillbillies have no choice but to play it. I want them to seethe

what was there plan???

Beyonce doesn't need country radio and I get stanning can sometimes get carried away but country music barely plays legit country songs from legit country female artists.

I hope you all are not thinking country radio had a plan to sabotage Beyonce's new songs. They are likely not playing her new song and it will still be a hit and probably won't even be submitted to country categories (likely pop and/or americana).

This isn't even a sliver of Old Town Road and the push it had against it (since it wasn't a country song anyways) which would legitimize your argument.

That mullet man is not respected and hadn’t had a hit in years :dies: Old town road is barely country and many thought it was a mockery of the genre. It’s peak makes sense

It's as much country as Meant To Be and that peaked at #1 on Country Airplay

She definitely doesn't need country radio. TH'E can be MASSIVE just off of Pop Radio airplay alone.

However, Beyoncé has the power to influence and diversify country radio's sound. The fact that Country Radio barely plays women at all is a problem. The fact that Country Radio doesn't play legit country songs because of whatever bias they're projecting on the artist is a problem. And if it takes Beyonce to shine light on bigger issues plaguing country radio then so be it. But her fans are not going to tolerate being blackballed and mis-categorized because "that's just the way it's always been" They're going to apply pressure.

And it seems that the pressure is already making a big impact.

WOW… the Variety article was interesting. I feel like Bey does not get the respect she often deserves. She is easily the most versatile, innovative and talented pop star of the last 20 years:clap3:

Barely at all.  Her recent country song,  Betty (from 2020 Folklore), both critically acclaimed and a fan-favorite only made it to number 32 on Country Airplay.  If she had remained a country artist, it would have topped the chart easily.   And they have completely ignored all her pop singles after she had declared that she was doing pop.

Check out Donna’s early track Sing Along (Sad Song) if you want to hear a bop

Thoughts?

Looking back at this, did the radio actually know the single was a country song? :deadbanana2:

Texas Hold Em is now top 50 on country radio - currently charting at pop, rhythmic, urban, hot AC and country.
