Where are you now? Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Yes sure, almost every popstar reinvents themselves for every era now... sadly that's what women have to do to stay relevant in the industry. In saying that this might not be groundbreaking of her, but it's taking a big risk for an artist of her stature and being a black woman. Historically POC & LGBTQ+ artists aren't welcome in country music, so it'll be interesting to see how much she pushes this to country radio and the country music industry, or if it will be a smaller release without big promo and singles. It's risky of her to alienate herself from her fanbase who expect r&b/dance/pop. This is all speculation of course not knowing for sure that it's a country album. Props to her for taking a risk as a black woman in this genre. I hope it helps to break down barriers and stereotypes in the country genre. That would be groundbreaking

It seemed apparent from Lemonade but now when you look at what followed (side projects EiL, Homecoming reinventing even her own hits and The Gift included) and the rumours of a rock act closing the trilogy. She’s going full blow genre change but making a project that will seemingly somehow still connect and she’s not afraid to do it wholeheartedly. It’s not exact but there’s a loose comparison of the 00s being her finding her footing as a solo artist (80s), the artistic growth of the 2010s (her Madonna 90s) and the dance, country etc directions of the 2020s just like Music and Confessions. She clearly took inspiration from the best. Even more mad when you think she has 4 albums with a girl group on top of all this. I've been saying this for a while. No other act in this century has quite had a career like hers.
Maroonx Posted February 14 Posted February 14 No one will ever come close to Madonna, sorry love x 1 1 1

It didn’t work for Justin Timberlake or Lady Gaga that well but we will see how it works for Beyonce . The album went BBH200 #1 and won a Grammy. Million Reasons still receives a healthy amount of daily streams.
Bosque Posted February 14 Posted February 14 It’s Madonna but looking at the past 10-20 years I can’t think of a mainstream artist ahead of Beyoncé in that respect

Kristie Kuwa Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I just wanna end this thread on one significant note: Formation Break My Soul Texas Hold Em. These are her last 3 lead singles of her solo projects. Let the variety, the quality, and the musicianship sink in. She made all of these sounds and genres her own. Absolutely incomparable.
