Lagerfeld Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Similar to Taylor, Lady Gaga also announced her album "BORN THIS WAY" after winning an award at the VMAS. Why was it okay for Lady to do so, but Taylor is under public scrutiny for announcing hers? 1 2 15
ATRL Moderator Popular Post Bloo Posted February 9 ATRL Moderator Popular Post Posted February 9 You know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation. It's literally just people reaching. There is no reason to be upset about a musical artist talk about their music in an acceptance speech for an award for their music. 18 2

Popular Post GraceRandolph Posted February 9 Popular Post Posted February 9 I think what Gaga does has class to it. I’ll say that. 30 4 22

Illuminati Posted February 9 Posted February 9 People haven't discovered that everyone goes to these events to do promo 6
MidnightsAtPeace Posted February 9 Posted February 9 taylor getting dragged for doing her job is so unserious maybe gaga should take notes and release more albums since her monsters are going nuts 3
BODERLINE Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I really don't get the outrage. She used HER time during HER acceptance speech to announce her album. She did not intrude on anyone else's time. They can stay bitter. 10
Kodak Energy Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I don’t think anyone is actually mad at Taylor for announcing an album. Taylor has been exuberant and loud since like 2014, some people love it some people find it insufferable. Cetaphil literally paid millions for an ad based around her for promo. She’s fine. Gaga also had her haters back then who thought she needed antics like the dress for success and the music quality wasn’t there. Time has just passed and those comments are forgotten.
MatiRod Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Award shows are a vehicle for promotion at the end of the day. There's nothing wrong with announcing your album IMO. But I suppose the Grammys have the air of a more ~formal~ event whereas the VMAs encourage everyone to be as messy and attention-seeking as possible, so you can get away with a lot more there. 1 1

Work on your reading comprehension, baby! OT: There's outrage? I haven't really seen any (aside from this purulent, salty website). Popular Post BoDaToe Posted February 9 Popular Post Posted February 9 (edited) 1. It was the VMAs not the GRAMMYs. They’re two very different events despite being music award shows. 2. Gaga hasn’t announced her previous record the exact same way at an award show. 3. She announced a TITLE and sang a line from the song. She didn’t say “hey go buy this rn” and put up pre orders that night (before she even got off the stage in Swiffers case actually). These things are totally different. Cameltoe Chariot Posted February 9 Posted February 9 One was at the VMAs with fans in attendance. The other was at the Grammys, an industry event with only peers and competitors in the room. 6
Brooklyn Baby Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) The VMAs are not to be taken seriously plus those are meant for controversy and are usually centered around a couple of artists, Gaga being the main one that year. Grammys are like a "classy" party and while I don't see anything wrong with Taylor announcing a new album there, I personally wouldn't have. Felt just a little tacky and I say that as a stan Edited February 9 by Taeyong 3 1
trueromance Posted February 9 Posted February 9 they’re not that comparable to me. the vmas are a lot less prestigious than the grammys. gaga announced the title, she didn’t give a release date or have the link to preorder the album on her website the same night 4
wish Posted February 9 Posted February 9 VMAs are known as a fan-voted and fan-driven event, while the Grammys are a professional industry event filled with your fellow artist peers. There was technically nothing wrong with Taylor announcing her album, but it just felt like an odd place to do it. I don't think I've ever seen an artist announce their music live at the Grammys before, but it's a commonplace thing to do at the VMAs. 9 1
Shelter Posted February 9 Posted February 9 VMA’s is like a fans award show so it’s the place to do that. It’s for gimmicks and drama.

If Gaga were to do this today, no one would care because she is not relevant in music in 2024. The point still stands!! 4 14
