Reggae, hard rock, psychedelic rock, R&B, hip-hop, jazz and more. You name it. Dead Petz alone is a testimony to her versatility and her commitment to the experimental nature of her artistry. No comfort zone or fear of upsetting pop-dance-obsessed fans, she just got on that studio booth and did it. Miley wins this one to me. 4
brenda-walsh Posted February 8 Posted February 8 beyonce, madonna, gaga, and rihanna feel like they are able to pull it off better. i applaud miley for constatntly changing but like someone earlier said, it feels like cosplay half the time
Scars Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Not only versatile, but also experimental. Her actual discography back that up.
Abracadabra Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I would say Gaga is the most versatile, but Miley is versatile also for sure 1
VioletsandRoses Posted February 8 Posted February 8 She’s one of but the material isn’t there. Plastic Hearts and maybe Bangerz are amazing the rest are mid or just straight up bad.

Where are you now? Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Miley does different genres more smoothly and confidently than gaga does imo. Gaga sounds great, but idk to me she always just sounds like Lady GaGa no matter what genre it is
FlyOnTheWall Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Rihanna even being mentioned in here when she barely even contributes to the creation of her music But she is. Probably tied with Gaga but, the latter definitely isn't far ahead of her in terms of versatility as the people on here want to make themselves believe
Pink Ranger Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I think Demi is quite versatile tbh, Rock, Country, Pop, RnB, Metal, Hip Hop, Indie are in noticeable in her discography
Kristie Kuwa Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I think that answers the question for once and for all 1

Mariah versatile, girl please she’s a power ballad bottom and that’s it In my opinion Madonna and Lady Gaga are the more verse (Miley not yet. Love her though, obsessed with the Grammy performance) 1

Love her though, obsessed with the Grammy performance) This straight-up lie Mariah is single-handedly responsible for mainstream marrying of genres in the 90s And she’s done everything from pop, R&B, house, jazz, soul, alt rock (and pop rock), funk, gospel, alt-R&b, reggae, hip hop (and hip hop soul), holiday, country, adult contemporary, Latin pop, disco - all in released music. There are few with such a varied discography. Quote Everyone wants to talk about Ariana Grande as a successor to Mariah Carey, but I don’t know a chanteuse more elusive, more chameleonic, more determined to marry genres divided by outdated gendered and racial ideas of what is marketable to whom than Kali Uchis.” https://www.stereogum.com/2246668/kali-uchis-orquideas/reviews/album-of-the-week/ Kali deserves a mention for this reason too

Mariah inherently has better understanding of whatever genre she is singing than Madonna or Lady Gaga, needless to mention her capabilities to back it up. She has successfully tackled power ballads with soaring highs, RnB jams with impeccable timing, Hip-hop infused tracks where she mastered all those staccatos, house remixes which are completely resung in different melodies, disco tracks, jazz covers with masterful back phrasing, the list goes on. 1
