Carry My Heart Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) There have been several big hate trains against Taylor in the past 2 years, ranging from the first spur of outrage over her private jet use in the summer of 2022 (courtesy of a debunked study still being spread to this day) to the Matty Healy saga in May 2023 that brought along hundreds of viral hate videos/tweets and negative articles, attempts to blame her for the negligent promoter's role in Ana Benevides' passing late last year, NFL fans across the US complaining about her merely existing at football games every week, to the post-Grammys hate train going on right now. Yet none of these instances have had a negative impact on her success and cultural dominance. Is she simply immune to hate? Edited February 8 by Carry My Heart 1
Badgalbriel Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Because the people that hated her in 2008 and the same people that hated her in 2014, who are the same ones from 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024. They just hate her for being her. The rest of the world simply doesn't care about them. It's just that they're a loud minority. People here are like: "Omg, see? A viral tweet dragging her! She's over" yeah, those dragging her never consumed her before. It simply won't make a difference. Edited February 8 by Badgalbriel 8 1
Bosque Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) People would love to tear her down because she’s successful and it gives them clout in their little bubble to be against successful people, so the Twitterati keep trying. What they don’t understand is that (like any musical artist) she is ultimately successful because she releases good music, and when the GP presses play on Spotify to get a bit of enjoyment in life, they simply do not care that there is a chronically online person who thinks she looked at Celine Dion the incorrect way. Klein Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) It's just that only people that already hate her are creating those narratives when in fact nobody that is at least neutral to Taylor would care about or take seriously. And tbh, unless she does something truly horrible, there is not even the slightest chance she'll get cancelled. It didn't work in 2016 when she was more hated than now by a MILE. It's not happening now, in the age when people can simply ignore what they don't care about. Basically, she's not going anywhere until she puts out a record that neither the GP nor the critics enjoy. I'd say either enjoy the ride or ignore her. You're just hurting yourself if you're actively hating on her. Edited February 8 by Klein 1
RideOrDie Posted February 8 Posted February 8 because she hasn't done anything wrong in any of these hate trains so they don't work it's similar with my fave but on a smaller scale, the tweets calling her a zionist get 50k+ likes every day on twitter yet she is the second most streamed female artist and is loved by everyone except losers on twitter and grammy voters 6 1
shookspeare Posted February 8 Posted February 8 the GP isn't really looking to taylor for her stance on israel, they just want to bop to Karma in their car 3

Trent W Posted February 8 Posted February 8 People who consume her stuff are not a part of the demographic that hates her

St. Charles Posted February 8 Posted February 8 The same reason cancelling isn’t really a thing. The people who join in on the hate never liked her anyway, and the people who like her aren’t getting convinced by the hate trains.
cat1867 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Because artists can only be canceled by people who listen to them in the first place. Taylors main fanbase is huge and have grown numb to viral hate since she gotten so much since her debut in 2006. The offline go just listen to hit songs in their playlists and really don’t care. At worst, viral hate will just create another rep eta where she is just carried by her fans. But with some many,!it won’t even effect her numbers much.

Venice B Posted February 8 Posted February 8 It's so funny to see people on twitter trying to end her like some viral tweets thinking they're doing the most but then she just bounces back, I'd be fumming 24/7 if I was a Taylor Swift hater lol you can literally tell there are people who can't wait for her to **** up and be over but she just stays here... she's the people's princess. 3
Dante Silva Posted February 8 Posted February 8 She is still in her imperial phase that in her case has been lengthened by happening during a time period where the internet has matured and achieved a saturated level of global reach. This is matched by her being reasonably intelligent and having a team around her who know how to best manage and extrapolate the private metrical and demographic data viewable only to her and her team through exclusive interfaces that all established online platforms give Taylor and her team access to. Nobody can truly say when the tide in public opinion will ultimately turn against her as no artist has peaked in a time period where the internet (and its capabilities for data extraction) have been as technologically advanced or as malleable as they are in the present time period. Only one thing is certain, the tide will eventually turn (even if it takes a generation to do so).
TaylorNation Posted February 8 Posted February 8 wbk, she is The Music Industry cockroach and they hate to see it

I don't think they'll ever truly be a shift of opinion. People will just move on to someone else, just like for every artists ever.

Keeandga Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Don’t most celebrities? She’s not the only one plus there is things she should held accountable for but her fans don’t hold her accountable for anything.
Rep2000 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Because ultimately all those hate trains are superficial at best and forced at worst. For example, if people truly think Matt Healy is a Nazi, then why don't they cancel him first in the first place? He still has a thriving career with all the ragebait bs he said.
Sannie Posted February 8 Posted February 8 These so-called "hate trains" are just a group of people online sharing their valid criticisms. You Swifties are so obsessed with making her out to be a victim that you view anything other than "she is the best to ever do it" as some massive affront to her existence. 3 2 1 1

Everyone is ok for saying that she is using her jet too much, we're just tired of the hypocrisy. But what should we do? Stop listening to her as a protest?
Meev Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Click on a twitter account that is hating on Taylor, and then click on a Swift or account, and you see that these are distinctly different demographics of people. And hate trains towards Taylor are for such ridiculous reasons that it is absurd to most people. Do you really think an average person will stop listening to Taylor’s music because she uses her private jet? An average person will honestly not care about it, and will have more negative feelings towards ecoprotestors because of the shenanigans they get up to. 1
