Specter Posted February 7 Posted February 7 The way you & your fanbase can find a way to use climate change as fodder for stan war'd whataboutism when a) no one on God's green earth has made the argument that Taylor is the only culprit; the discourse is on her being one of the most egregious b) climate change is gonna get y'alls asses too. Let me speak in a language your ilk understand: in a few decades, parts of several countries are projected to be submerged, including one frighteningly close to me (we're talking 100s of miles). When Taylor is on her 40th album, she won't be able to tour underwater — at least not yet — so if the human cost of climate change is too ******* dense for y'all to understand, think of it in touring numbers in the future being adversely affected for y'alls fave. Insufferable. Tortured Poets is right. 5 11

Velvet Night Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I hate how people turned this serious issue of climate change and carbon emissions into a stan war just to come for a certain artist. I’m all for holding celebrities accountable but if one celebrity is held accountable (without even being in the top 30) I sure hope all of them are. 11

This has to be a joke right? 11

Do you guys seriously privilege the lack of threads about private flights taken by *spins wheel* Steven Spielberg on ATRL, a pop music forum, as a gotcha in exposing the alleged hypocrisy within the people that call out Taylor Swift? Let alone the fact that people can do...both at the same time? What to you suggests that those calling Taylor out are unaffected or unstirred by others also being irresponsible, and more importantly, what does that "expose" get you? 1 1 3

Taylor is #30th If you wanna call out Call out Travis Scott and the 'power couple' those are way way ahead of her and getting away with it Otherwise it looks performative to attack someone 4

What to you suggests that those calling Taylor out are unaffected or unstirred by others also being irresponsible, and more importantly, what does that "expose" get you? The joke is acting like people haven't gone full-on faux-outrage about Taylor Swift and carbon emission for the last two years for the sake of stan wars. Hell, this thread is revealing who the biggest offenders of 2023 are, and yet, all everyone is talking about is "it doesn't mean Taylor Swift is good" (which granted, is true. Just because she isn't #1 doesn't mean she isn't contributing heavily to the problem) and not one person is calling out any other celebrities. We've had an immense amount of threads about Taylor and eco-terrorism, only for it to be shown she's not even the biggest problem among the big artists stanned on this website. Yet not one thread will be made calling out the other offenders. If you don't see it as hypocrisy, then you are just part of the hypocrites. And let's be clear... I am NOT saying Taylor doesn't deserve to be called out for this wrong behavior regarding her jet usage, she definitely does. I'm merely calling out the selective faux-outrage and hypocrisy. If this issue is truly something that concerns you, just be consistent. Edited February 7 by Klein 16

JoeAg Posted February 7 Posted February 7 my fav's not on here but she's had her own ecological disaster https://pitchfork.com/news/56551-kate-bushs-house-in-danger-of-falling-into-the-sea/ 1
OnlyManInTheWorld Posted February 7 Posted February 7 At least for once Beyonce's charting higher than Taylor 1
Keeandga Posted February 7 Posted February 7 “If these people can do it why can’t Taylor” they all shouldn’t be doing it, but instead of taking people criticisms you deflect to other people, who also should be called out. She’s threatened to sue someone for something that’s public information, which is strange & typical rich out of touch celebrity antics.
penguintim Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Carly Rae Jepsen nowhere to be seen even with her smash global tour last year, we love an environmental queen 💜
nadiamendell Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Highly highly doubt this is accurate, especially considering all of the travelling Taylor did last year. 1
Hurem Posted February 7 Posted February 7 How are you going to stan the most successful artist at the moment, yet be so insecure? 1
