Taylor Swift’s lawyers threaten legal action against student who tracks her jet

i thought all planes can be tracked and that it’s public information

Technically, yes, they are. It’s a little more effort to get the information yourself than to simply follow a page that hands it to you directly and near-instantaneously, but you can do it.

It seems like this could be resolved by simply delaying tracking by a day (like the student in question already does on Twitter) so that emissions are still made transparent without enabling stalkers, which is the stated concern according to the article that ATRL won’t read.

her carbon footprint is something fair to critique.

A public figure with countless known stalkers, many of whom repeatedly show up at her houses and have expressed wanting to physically harm her, doesn't want her live location being broadcasted to the world? Shocker!

they already do that

but damn she uses that jet so much💀 according to the page. she spends like $3000 per day on jet fuel and emits 7 tons of CO2 per flight sometimes… insane

The student in question apparently doesn’t use the same delay on other social media outlets. They do delay it on Twitter and I think it’s appropriate to both delay the information and still report it.

Why do we need to publicize Taylor's real-time location to her extensive list of stalkers in order to hold her accountable for excessive jet use? There's no reason for such accounts to exist on social media.

They’re going to stalk her on a plane?

I don’t think most people understand that she has no choice but to fly private

Imagine the mess flying in economy :skull: , the flight wouldn’t even be safe for anyone

She does need to stop abusing it to see Kelce everywhere and just really when she has to.

I understand her concerns but sending out a cease and desist is not going to solve anything. this is, and will remain, basic public information that this user is allowed to report. they showcase the co2 emissions as well per flight, which might be useful information considering how much taylor does pollute the atmosphere.

@Cruel Summer already mentioned other accounts that report her emissions (which they should) but do it on a 24 hour delay. That seems like an entirely reasonable compromise.

“Emotional and physical distress” LMFAOO :bibliahh:

This chick just doesn’t want to be put on blast for contributing on destroying the environment..

Or, she doesn't want her stalkers knowing her real time location. Who could imagine that would cause distress to somebody? :rip:

Taylor deserves to be called out for her CO2 emissions, which can be done without live tracking her jet's course constantly.

No, but they can see where she's headed and trail her car when she leaves the airport. That account regularly fetched the locations of the airports she was flying to before she even landed there.

the best solution is for that user to just only report emissions if he cares about the climate that much and at least delay the tracking information. broadcasting live data and speculating what she might do is stalking and i get that its concering

So now you’re just literally calling for her violent death? :ducky:

It's perfectly fine to track her flights. But asking for a decent 24-48 hours delay on the information seems fair for security reason.

There’s no way she can play this one off, she’s a menace.
